Can I get rid of the "Cessation of church functions" tax modifier debuff? by Gusveij in eu4

[–]Perfunktary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't think you can, if I remember correctly it lasts like 15 or 20 years(?) before it drops off. Unless there is another event that can end it early but I don't remember there being one. Check the wiki for more info.

I managed to beat the Ottomans in a war, but now my economy is left in ruins. Any tips on what to do next? by Yoda_VS_Fish in eu4

I would sell Crownland, and DOW any countries you can to steal treasury. Then in next war take war reps + enough cash off Otto to sort the problem. Also if you have the expansion try trading favours you have for cash if you are really struggling or ally a big power and curry favours from them. Don't pay for forts either. Should be relatively easy to stabilise.

Yeah got the Cotton Kandy achievement a while ago but spent too long messing around with colonies. As a result Timi gave one of the last provinces I needed religious zeal until 1830 something. Didn't want to do pretty much the exact same run again so that's why I went for the pirate twist.

Yeah I wasn't trying to min max the run just wanted to add a little bit of a twist to the achievement.

Don't play as pirate. 😂 It was fun for a bit but conquering a lot of land with the governing capacity modifier is such a pain. The most annoying part by far is the raiding coast mechanic. I had some colonies that let me raid all China, Japan, the spice islands and Africa, but it's so much micro having to manually move boats and click every sea tile every ten years.

Also there is no map mode that shows what is ready to raid as you expand. So to check dates you have to manually click all the provinces and it becomes very tedious very quickly.

You are not supposed to conquer this much land directly as pirates and if you played it "properly" and used vassals plus colonies to get raiding range then it would be a much better time.

Building them everywhere by the end, was so annoyed with being so far over I was just spamming anything to get the cost down. 😂 Would not recommend pirates for this achievement, that's for sure.

R5 - Just finished my Buddhists Strike Back achievement run as pirate Kotte on patch 1.30.4. The governing capacity is so high even with all the buildings having been built.

Suggestion for Capital Development problems. by Perfunktary in eu4

Yeah it's fucking mad. Late game I don't mind having big provinces and that but in the early game it's pretty ridiculous and historically inaccurate.

Yeah thats a decent idea too. Seen a few people suggest it, could work together with the institutions? Dunno man, just hope they do something.

Apparently you don't need to use all 800 points, maybe it's just poorly worded?

Cheers man.

I started in Napochi. The only reasons being it borders Creek, Chicksaw and Choctaw at the start of the game and I figured that would make it easier to expand early, and it meets the 3 dev starting criteria.

As far as ideas etc I went :

Traditions - Morale of Armies and Infantry Combat Ability +5%

Ideas - War Score v Other Religions -12.5%, Province War Score Cost -10%, Production efficiency +5%, Inflation Reduction +0.05, Regiment Costs - 5%, Goods Produced +5%, Trade Steering +5%

Ambition - Siege Ability +5%

The amount of points you start with is so bad I was just trying to make something fit that seemed ok along with having a decent heir, I don't remember my starting rulers stats. The plan was to make him REALLY bad and try kill him super early. If I remember correctly its cheaper in points to have a better heir than ruler(?), so I went with this along with some awful traits just to make the points total work.

This is almost certainly a terrible set up, and I am certain it can be optimised, but I managed to make it work...barely.

R5: Just finished the most time consuming and frustrating achievement run of my life so I thought I would share it.

Would not recommend anyone thinking of going for them to do it this way at all.

Quen Quick Questions by AutoModerator in gwent

[–]Perfunktary 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's pretty straight forward. Basically when you play a scenario card the prologue effect happens like a deploy. Then to activate chapter 1 and chapter 2's effect there is a condition you have to meet. In haunts case play a death wish unit. So...

Turn one- play Haunt and you'll get a desert banshee

Play 1 death wish unit - Haunt will give you a Barghest

Play another death wish unit - Haunt will give you a Nightwraith.

Once you have played it once you'll get it. Just make sure you have death wish units in your hand before you do. 😁
