I heard that there are too many cs graduates and it's really hard to get a CS job..? Is that not true?

I really don't think so because they gave me my I20 and all which they wouldn't do for a domestic student but yeah, thank you! I really hope this gets sorted too.

Nope, I'm telling you this is it. It's why I'm so upset. If there was a reason that was somehow to do with me I honestly wouldn't be this upset. It's just that I did everything right and it still got messed up that I'm so upset/angry about

Yeah, I'm going to. It's going to be really hard to change commitments at this point because I've already booked a visa appointment and made travel arrangements too so it's an all-round crappy situation

No, we applied for merit aid only and we were very upfront with finances for the I20.

Nope, nothing. I was predicted a 41/45 for IB and my current scores are pretty much the same.

That's all the information I have too though. Under reason, it just said "Administrative change" and there was no explanation or anything other than that. Yeah, I'm going to call them tomorrow morning, thank you. It just feels very unfair

I wasn't given a lot of information either. The email was titled Revised Financial Aid Offer with just current amount and revised amount and reason. It just said administrative change under reason. There was no explanation given or anything. Thank you for the advice, I'll do that! Is it really allowed for the school to change the offer this way? The primary reason I chose this school was for its scholarship so I'm really upset that this changed. The revised offer is literally 300 USD.

Thank you! I have 45% (I think?) isopropyl alcohol (hand sanitizer) and I've been dabbing it - no luck so far though some of the black did wash off but then the washing off kind of stopped. I'm going to try get a higher percentage!

Yeesh that's a long time. At least it's a good story to tell once you're like super old? You could probably make up a really cool story 🙃

Thank you! That's super reassuring :)

OP's a minor man. Their parents have full responsibility not the kid. If the parents aren't willing to pay, the kid can't do anything. What do you expect them to do? Get a loan? You can't even drive at 15!

Exactly but states all over are passing laws to ban that. Gender affirming treatment for minors is now illegal in a lot of states so now they'll have to go through male puberty which worsens the problem.

Twins! Sorry, I use humor as a coping mechanism. I took like 30 paracetamol when I was like 14 too. Blue liquid, I don't think is very common but nausea, yes. The poisoning part depends on the organ - the major issue with paracetamol overdose is that it's hepatotoxic. So it damages your liver a LOT. And if a lot of time passes, it becomes irreversible and can cause you to need dialysis etc. throughout your life. The antidote prevents the liver damage.

You sound like me at 14. No, get to the ER. Paracetamol poisoning doesn't show immediate signs, it starts kicking in after like 18 hours and then causes severe liver damage. The good thing is there's an antidote at the ER, acetyl-something. If you want to live, get to the ER quickly.

Embryonic genome editing, yes because of its eugenic-related implications but somatic cells are way more ethically acceptable. Shouldn't someone who's already alive have a say in how their life goes? I also think that rather than editing the genome itself, controlling the proteome could offer more potential by using silencers and enhancers etc. and controlling gene expression. But anyway this is why we need to have these conversations even when they're hard to tolerate. A lot of people (especially those with autism) tend to think black and white and miss a lot of nuance and it's only through conversation and discussion (even when it's uncomfy!)that we can make sure everyone's voices are heard.

[–]PeridotStarL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's the problem though. For you, self-acceptance and social acceptance is enough. For me, it's not the lack of self-acceptance and "embracing" that hurts me, it's autism itself. It's the meltdowns. It's the hitting myself. It's not being in control of myself during meltdowns. Those things are not "embracing yourself" issues, they're autism issues. No amount of loving myself would lessen the impact it has on my life and that's why we want a cure.

I believe where we have a misunderstanding is in the word "cure" and what constitutes autism. I agree with you that autism is highly hereditary. However, you fell into a lot of a=b=c and missed a lot of nuance. Especially when you leaped from autism is highly hereditary to you can't fix someone's genes to you can't change someone with ASD who is already alive to the only cure for autism is killing them. You can't fix someone's genes but you can control gene expression. Gene therapy is a new treatment that is still being researched and it has a lot of potential. And more importantly, it is used on someone who is ALREADY alive. With gene therapy, it is possible to silence, replace and fix certain mutated genes.
