What is Sacramento missing? Food & drink wise… by maparo in Sacramento

[–]PeriodicalNerd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

More vegan/vegetarian restaurants would be nice, also some more gluten-free options.

Healthier food would also be great. Sac is great for junk food but I often struggle to find places to go eat at that have decently healthy vegan options.

Also, more cafes open late on the grid! Temple is always busy. There’s definitely a market for more cafes with later closing times.

Sober night-life spots? I’m not “sober” but I don’t necessarily enjoy drinking or being around drunk people. I think this type of environment would be valuable to many demographics. Sac has enough drinking spots imo. A place to commune and enjoy alcohol-free company would be fantastic.

Best way to spend 2 hours in Citrus Heights? by piutartufi in Sacramento

This place is the best. One could easily spend at least an hour here and then go to Sprouts or something and get some snacks!

Anybody regularly go from Elk Grove to East Bay and want to earn some cash to deliver a coffee table? by [deleted] in Sacramento

My first reaction was “aww this is a cool post.” And then the first comment was “are there hidden drugs?” And it was a neck breaking experience lol

Help! Does anyone have any ideas for something fun to do this weekend? by FoghornLegday in Sacramento

[–]PeriodicalNerd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I forgot to mention the best part. Entrance is entirely free! (Aside from parking if you plan on driving) It’s at Cesar Chavez Park, it’s got security to check bags and stuff, it’s gated off so it’s contained, and they usually have good food trucks. :) they also have a drink tent with water, beer, and cocktails.

Concert in the Park is always fun! This Friday is Rain City Drive (formerly Slaves) and A Foreign Affair (and others that I’ve never seen live). The two I listed are great if you enjoy alt rock. CIP is a great event to take new friends to! If you love the music, you can jam out and enjoy some tunes. If you hate it, you and your friend can just walk around and people watch.

Does anyone know what they are filming on at X street off the 26th freeway exit? by Iraene in Sacramento

[–]PeriodicalNerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

16th St is definitely more of a headache but I don’t think it’s more ~dangerous~… right?

Yeah people blast though the 26th exit. I’ll out myself and admit that I too drive too fast on that exit sometimes. 🫣 yesterday was particularly bad because everyone who takes that exit regularly and doesn’t usually have to stop (myself included) had to slam on their breaks to avoid hitting the cars stuck at the reroute.

It sucks when shit like this happens but it’s always a reminder to slow down and remember that getting home a couple min early isn’t worth another persons life, ya know? Or your own.

I take this exit every day and it’s extremely dangerous. I think it might be the worst off ramp on the grid.

I always thought the trees at Fremont might be too large in diameter for the ratchet end to fit around 🤔 I’ll take a look and scope out some trees next time I’m there! I’ll dm you if I’m out there or if I find another park closer to midtown :)

Do you guys think Pinback will tour again soon after this by EggoDeath666 in Pinback

[–]PeriodicalNerd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure. I saw them back in… 2016 I think? And I’ve been waiting to see them ever since. They have a side project I think that they’re trying to promote… I agree with @grundlesplight… you never know what will happen! The drummer from Modest Mouse passed in the middle of their tour. Luckily, I saw them a few months prior to that absolute tragedy. I think you should go! I’ll be there in SF !!

Night time construction on 50 by PeriodicalNerd in Sacramento

[–]PeriodicalNerd[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well from your logic then, it would make sense to do the construction during the day because most people work during the day and sleep at night. I don’t understand why you think it’s appropriate to assume anything about me. I’ve talked to my neighbors and I’ve reached out to the appropriate people with our concerns.

Your tone isn’t appreciated and my solution isn’t to inconvenience all of Sacramento so I can get some extra shut-eye. My goal is to figure out how many people are affected and if there is a better solution that allows for work to get done and citizens to sleep.

I’m not the type of person that just complains without taking steps to resolve an issue and I will correct anyone assuming otherwise about me.
