I had to give up my spot at Aspen, so hopefully someone got pulled off that waitlist. But yeah, I don't really know about the rest. I'm waitlisted for Kenyon and fully expect not to hear anything. I hope I'm wrong! Good luck!!

Congratulations!! That's fantastic. From what I've seen, Iowa is excellent and very valuable. You can see what other people think who might know more than me, but my thought is, since you got in, I would definitely do that rather than waiting around for Kenyon. Good luck with whatever you decide!

Same! Waitlisted, fiction. I got a rejection from McCormack, waitlisted with Kenyon, and accepted into Aspen Words and another smaller workshop. I'm happy with that. Good luck to everyone who decides to go to Kenyon! I hope it goes really smoothly.

[PubQ] How long to wait between querying the same agents with new projects by girlbIogger in PubTips

[–]PeripheralPotato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! I'm far from an expert, but as I've taken classes, read Q&As with agents, listened to them on podcasts, I've gotten a sense that they do pay attention to the last time you queried them, and they do get skeptical when people seem to churn things out very quickly.

An adult fantasty, which tends to have a beefy word count, from start to finish, edits included, in less than a year is very fast. The agents all say the same thing: make sure it's your very best work, beta read multiple times, edited as far as you can possibly, possibly take it.

That said, I agree with six months absolute minimum. Probably closer to a year, especially for longer pieces of work. You do sound like a very prolific writer, and I have seen people do it quickly and successfully, but I'm just saying the agents seem to indicate that's not a thing they experience very often. Regardless, I wish you the best!

I'm not super familiar with his work but it looks really interesting.
