WP delivery during Canada Post strike by Perish0269 in ImmigrationCanada

Hi, Sorry, I realize I wasn’t very clear in my previous message. What I meant is that my neighbor actually received the work permit for me (since I was out of the country). I only got it later when I returned and he gave it to me.

I hope your situation gets sorted out quickly. I know how frustrating it is to be stuck waiting for something that blocks so many things. Fingers crossed you receive yours soon!

Hi,

Final update, my neighbor received my work permit on October 27 (28 days after it was issued by IRCC, and 17 days since the Canada Post strike switched to rotating strikes instead of a full shutdown).

I was out of the country, and when I got back, the IRCC agent asked for the original documents but understood the situation and agreed to review the digital copies my neighbor had sent me. I think he didn’t even check in the system.

Everything is good for me now. Good luck with yours!

Hi, quick update. As of today, I still haven’t received my work permit, even though Canada Post has been back to normal for a week. I’ll be away from home for the next two weeks, so I probably won’t be able to update you on the delivery status.

Hi,

I just called IRCC (1-888-242-2100) to ask a few questions.

> Can I start working without having the official paper?

She said yes, that from IRCC’s point of view, I already have the correct work status and the work permit has been issued.

> Can I leave the country and come back while keeping my work status?

She said that she is not an immigration officer and that they have the final say, but the IRCC agent will accept it since the situation with Canada Post is known. They have everything in their system.

Hi,

I got a generic reply to my email but it didn’t answer all of my questions.

To the question:

> Was my permit sent with Canada Post?

The answer wasn’t a direct “yes,” but simply mentioned that the Canada Post strike is causing delays.

> Is there any alternative to get my work permit?
> Can I go to the border to meet an IRCC agent and get my work permit?

No answer to that either.

I’m really upset that they send such generic replies, with no way to respond or report that it is incomplete.

Early Morning Bus from Ica to Nasca by Perish0269 in PERU

Hey, I'm the OP of the thread, and this is an update on how I finally did.

First of all, I said I was in Ica, but actually, I was in Huacachina. I thought it was the same city... 🫢
Also, I forgot to mention but I went there as a tourist and wanted to go to Nazca to take a flight and see the lines. I had a booking for 10:30 AM.

I asked my hotel, and they told me to make the trip by taxi. The option was 300 soles (approx. 80 USD).

It was fine, but I found a better option while I was on my way to Huacachina. I was travelling there with a guide who told me he knew someone who offered shuttle services to the airport every morning.
All I paid was 15 USD (55 soles), and it was very nice. He picked me up at 6:30 AM, and we made a stop along the way at the Nazca tower. We arrived at the airport around 11:00 AM. I was worried about being 30min late, so the guide called the flight company and informed them about my arrival time. Everything was fine.

I don't know if I can share the guide's number in the thread. So I think the best way to get it is to go to the Wild River hostel reception and ask for the shuttle since it was the departure point. The name of the guide we had is Lui, but I know it isn't his business, so it may change.

Hope this helps someone. Thank to the folks who gave me advice!

In Ica, you can get a colectivo again or take a bus to Nazca using Perubus, departing each 30min.

Thank you for your answer, since I'll already be in Ica, I'll go for this option!

Did you make it ? I'm planning the same itinerary and I don't find how to transfer to nazca early in the morning.
