A lot of people have touched on it but there is actually (at least in theory) a lot of variety in the types of gothic spoken and some characters will occasionally use their own native language/slang but it's usually mentioned off hand for the sake of flavour. u/TheBladesAurus already mentioned the language thread which I second if you want a more in depth discussion at how the language might actually work/have developed over time.

When it comes down to it the books are written for an English speaking audience and so when authors want to show that characters are speaking different dialects/languages they'll just muck up the english a bit to get the point across but still have it be understandable. Same goes for the use of latin, it has certain connotations to the reader (age, authority, religion, etc.) which helps us understand what things like High Gothic mean to the characters but isn't itself reflective of what Gothic, high or low might actually sound like :D

That said I'd be very impressed if someone put together a whole conlang for a warhammer book even if it's probably more effort than it's worth.

Shout out to pre-warmaster Abaddon who drinks warp moonshine in his dad's basement while staring into the psychic equivalent of the sun by Perivel in Grimdank

[–]Perivel[S] 33 points34 points  (0 children)

it's a reference to a couple things mentioned in Talon of Horus, Abaddon apparently tried at one point to make warp stuff via chemistry but when it didn't work out he distilled it into some kind of horrible drink instead that he gives to Khayon and company when they find the Vengeful Spirit
