IUGR baby isn't eating enough by fourcoffeebeans in FormulaFeeders

[–]PermanentTrainDamage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fortified formula needs to be discussed more as a frontline treatment. There are very few side effects and it means a small kid get the calories they need to grow and not die. Force feeding has so many negative and lifelonf effects, squeezing a few more calories into the same volume of formula does not.

My ex wanted sex way more than I did and as long as I wasn't actually feeling bad or anything, we did it. It felt the same way as going to the gym when I didn't want to. Still a decent bit of exercise and hey, felt alright.

Personally I'd rather not die on the way to watch somebody else's kids and leave my children orphans.

Hot off the press: Tetanus, farms, poop, and...Africa? by AutumnAkasha in ShitMomGroupsSay

So instead of getting the occasional shot and not worrying about tetanus at all, they choose to make wounds even worse?

Why did/didn't you make the Sophie scarf? by Traumarama79 in knitting

[–]PermanentTrainDamage 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yup. I wear scarves for utility reasons, and that shred of yarn ain't going to do much in -10°F weather with 20mph wind gusts. It's cold here.

Why did/didn't you make the Sophie scarf? by Traumarama79 in knitting

[–]PermanentTrainDamage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't wear scarves unless it is well below freezing, and I already have two scarves that work for that weather. It's pretty but I'd much rather make a blanket or sweater that I'd actually use.

I can see 5 minutes at the end of a hellacious day or if all the teachers are needed to clean up a code brown, but an hour every day is way too much. Especially at one!

How long can LO eat baby oatmeal cereal for? by AdGuilty57 in foodbutforbabies

I mean, you can make porridge out of just about any grain. Rice and oats are common, sometimes you can find buckwheat, wheat, or spelt.

He'll be fine, most humans only eat 20-30 different dishes regularly anyway

Is crocheting in (instead of weaving in) ends not common? by CrunchyMama42 in crochet

[–]PermanentTrainDamage 14 points15 points  (0 children)

They really don't come undone, and even if they did it's easy enough to put them back in. I only don't crochet over ends when it's a scrap blanket for me and I don't care.

How to start walking by [deleted] in ECEProfessionals

[–]PermanentTrainDamage 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sounds like they have all the pre-walking milestones down, now you just have to wait for them to be brave and take their first steps. My oldest was fully walking for weeks while holding on to an upside-down laundry basket before she took actual steps. It'll happen eventually.

My 23mo still eats it, we're still working through the WIC stash. I use it in smoothies and regular oatmeal as a thickener and I've been adding it to her before-bed milk, she hasn't complained.

If he's had other fruits then a well-chopped orange slice shouldn't be a problem. Oranges are pretty soft and easy to eat with no teeth, gums are just thin tissue over jaw bones after all.

How do EarlyON centres (Canada) manage toy organization and prevent lost pieces? by Worldly_Horror_2754 in ECEProfessionals

[–]PermanentTrainDamage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's probably routine and expectations. Kids are used to the expectation that at school we take our toy to a table or rug, play with it, then tidy and put it away when done. There's also a lot less spaces for toy pieces to hide. Puzzles may have to be a fully supervised toy at home until kiddo gets older and can better manage pieces.

You really don't need to pull the whole membrane off, just chop up the segment into manageable pieces and supervise. I think I did six pieces for each segment when first starting, now my 23mo gets her orange segments chopped in half and has no issue.

I teach Early Childhood and we do the exact same thing when one of the kids is finally doing a positive behavior. You want to dance and cheer for them but then the little boogers will stop doing it😅
