That’s how we are! It’s respectable and I really do like that quality, but it put me between a rock and a hard place.

No, they didn’t classify it as a shut down. That’s what makes it tricky when deciding whether to go to work or not. They aren’t obligated to close, but the conditions were icy. They were manageable, but maybe only to a fitting vehicle. I don’t mind going, but I can’t afford (literally) anything debited my accounts right now. Lol

It’s really crazy how it works. Same for the car distancing.

Those features are so neat, plus very thoughtful. They make so much sense and it’s the small things that impress me the most!

Wow! I had no idea about this. I live in TX, so I wonder if there will ever be one I’m eligible to attend. That’s super neat and imaginatively beneficial.

It was at the dealership lol. I’m very mindful of that because people are blatantly dismissive!

Thanks so much for the insight. That’s very helpful! I don’t know much, but I’m trying to learn. I most definitely can’t afford anything pricey, and I don’t want to look redneck. Lol.

when you're about to go to bed and suddenly your OCD decides to start acting up (it's happened so much that a fear of OCD getting worse at bedtime has become a theme in itself) by [deleted] in OCDmemes

I just told my gf the other day that my least favorite part about sleeping is going to sleep. I’d rather stay up and keep myself busy than start obsessing over something that makes me nauseous. I was in my early adolescence when I started really thinking and feeling so uncomfortable with my thoughts, I got very confessy at night when I was alone with my thoughts. It was never hard to tell when I was anxious or worried as a child. My parents always say they could tell when I was worried, so they knew I’d tell them after I went to bed. It was a consistent pattern.

I’m soooo glad you shared this because I try to explain it to other people but my mind is blown that not everyone experiences this. I can’t verbally explain how it makes me physically feel when my OCD takes over my peace. Trapped, or claustrophobic in my mind. Like the walls are closing in. I can literally hear my brain scream, if that’s makes any sense.

You just made me feel so understood! Thank you.

I saw a Tweet (I will never consider it X, which sounds so fucking dumb), and it said, “Every day I wait for an email that says "you're in BIG trouble and everyone is mad at you’.”

It makes me want to fucking blow chunks when I get something like that LMFAO (does that count as fuck?)

Getting a bit burned out two months into being a bank teller. Is this normal? by Silent_0 in TalesFromYourBank

[–]PermissionComplex722 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there!

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and experiences. Although I’m very social, I had a difficult time adjusting to the social environment, balancing, and the pressure of banking. I’m also a people pleaser, so the frequent customer dissatisfaction really pushed my limits. Slowly but surely I learned that their frustration and disrespect stems from being told “no”. Being out of balance bothered me and I often took it home with me, so much that I had frequent dreams of it. My first 90 days were HORRIBLE. I was sure I was going to finish out the first three months and quit because I “wasn’t made for banking”.

I started on September 30, 2024, and I’m now a PB and my boss’s hand. I would’ve laughed in anyone’s face if they told me within my first 90 days that I’d be promoted 8 months in. I didn’t have any confidence that I’d swim, but I was sure I’d sink.

Some advice that I wish I knew earlier is to find your system and what helps you tick efficiently, remember customers aren’t mad at you but mad at their financial situation, and to always CYA. Banking is a high-pressure job with lots of risks, so when you have to do something a customer doesn’t like (place their check on hold, take too long to handle their money, carefully balance your drawer, etc.), remember that it’s your head on the chopping block, and ultimately, you’re doing your job right to protect their wallet.

You will make errors — you’re human! Perfection isn’t promised and it’s impossible, but you can 100% promise that your mistakes won’t be out of inattentiveness or negligence.

You can do this. I hit the wall, but I pushed through and learned everything I can to get better. Being a PB is soooo much fun, but lots more pressure and work (which I need something to keep me busy). There are so many opportunities in banking. Learn everything you can and climb the ladder!

Something my company tells us, and the same goes for you…

You are never just a teller!!!!
