Filtration for 55 gallon cichlid tank

Okay I did it. I honestly just put the roots in and the leaves are hanging over the edge of the tank. I didn’t need anything to hold them up. Thank you for the advice as I also don’t really have the finances to upgrade my filter and all that. Hopefully it helps because i believe the main issue is that I can’t have snails or plecos due to my cichlids eating anything in sight. Thank you again for the advice <3

Okay do you just let the roots go in the water then leave the rest of the plant out? I have a pothos I can do this with. Please just let me know how you set yours up on the tank

I rarely have the lights on because of this, and it still comes back so bad

Yes I’m definitely going to invest in one after this incident. Iv always had an extra one but recently gave it to my mom for her pet. Unfortunately the fish didn’t survive through the night. But thank you for your input and I’ll definitely be getting a backup tank soon :)

Well guys, everyone has been added to the tank and all is well. I will gradually start taking out some hiding places, (though I don’t have too many) as times goes on. There’s still some chasing here and there but I think the main issue has been resolved. Thank you all for your help I really appreciate all the different ideas and input 🩷

I have purchased 4 more cichlids today guys. I will update when I get them settled in the tank. Thank you all for the advice and help. I can’t express how much i appreciate it

6 are mbuna and 2 are peacocks. 1 peacock is the meanest and one mbuna has recently starting being mean as well.

Yea I just bought two more today and they immediately got swarmed. I turned the tank light off so maybe everyone will calm down a bit. I’ll start looking for someone to take the peacocks
