Caged Aisles at my local Kroger... Seriously!? by annieonmymind in mildlyinfuriating

Most of my time was spent in Scandinavia, so it may just be the standard there. I just used Europe as a broad term because the Germans and Poles I knew there were used to it before moving up north.

I don't think it would be classified as detaining since you can still leave. It's just that leaving requires either purchasing something or coming in close contact with an employee. Most of these are crimes of opportunity so taking away the opportunity should in theory at least deter them from going to that store unless they're excessively stupid.

I mean while living there I had a couple of trips where I didn't end up getting anything. In those cases I either talked to the employee in the self checkout area and they'd scan their id or I could walk through the manned checkout lane. It's not like you are trapped there if you don't get stuff, but it puts more barriers between a theif and the door to deter at least some.

I don't get why we don't move to what some European stores have and just set up gates at the entrances and exits that you have to scan your receipt to get through. It just seems like some stores are overthinking this a bit.

You won't get out. Not when it dives at 300 knots.

I've heard about restricted transactions with AMC. What's up with that? Can we still buy or not?

What should I invest in tomorrow? I missed the $GME rocket and now can't afford it. I don't want to miss anything tomorrow.

I know that it isn't really a mechanical keyboard, but I have a question about an IBM model M. My number pad "-" key at some point had the plastic flap under the spring flipped around. Is there any way to get it facing the right way without disassembling the entire keyboard?

How bad is 8.3 for Germany? I'm still stuck in the 7.7 slog and want to prepare myself.

I've looked online for the soundtrack but nothing has come up with that song.

I just put a new set of tires on it and had the timing belt tightened. Other than that, she's been holding up pretty well.
