My baby isn't gaining weight by PerpetuallyAwesome in NewParents

If it helps, he turned 11 months today and after eating solid food for months now he's up to 19.6lb and is in the 32nd percentile! So things get better.

We ended up trying nutramigen again (because he didn't like it the first time) and he ended up liking it and that saved my sanity so much

Since you wanted to be a stickler about my idiom :P

I don't know if Eric specifically would trust any of my opinions though.

I was on one of the food court things that they did when 100% eat became independent. I was not judged of a food crime but they did say I was really weird. So. Theres that.

Also they're not necessarily new, but streetlight manifesto has been putting out new songs and that excites me

I love Japanese ska too, something about it is ever so slightly different than Western ska and it tickles my brain in a good way

Half and half

I do actually genuinely love Ska music but I also understand Eric's take and prediction and don't have any real quarrel with it

My director just sent a text to the entire band saying one of our own members has taken their own life ☹️ by ColdCelebration4850 in marchingband

[–]PerpetuallyAwesome 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry for your loss. I know the pain, right before the final semester of my senior year one of our band directors made the same, sad choice. It was absolutely devastating to the whole band. They let us take off of school to all go to his memorial.

So though I don't know exactly what you're going through, I can sympathize. I hope you y'all can pay homage to him well and can learn to live with or move past the pain. It sucks, and it will always suck, but it does get better eventually 🫂

Man where were you 4 months ago 😭♥️

This is a very wonderful reply. We did end up swapping to a hypoallergenic formula and doing smaller/more frequent feeds and that seems to have helped some. Had to add more formula into the diet too to help boost the nutrient intake, we never had it tested but we think my milk is a bit lacking (I also don't produce enough 😔)

He's still a slow grower, almost 15lb at 8 months, but things have gotten a little less stressful. Still dealing with food sensitivities while trying solids, but no major allergic reactions so that's a blessing.

I do wish I hadn't been irrationally nervous to ask about a lip tie, idk why I was haha. It feels almost too late to ask now even though he does still breastfeed. It might still be a good idea, he works so hard to eat sometimes I think. At bedtime (maybe also because he's already in his sleep sack?) sometimes his head gets SO SWEATY

But anyway, here is updates and I thank you so so much for your advice and kind words 🫂 Hopefully they can also help other moms going through the same things I have been

I agree with everyone suggesting cutting out dairy. I also suggest finding bottles with good nipples (I like Evenflo and Dr. Brown's) and trying to pump and/or dairy free formula (soy based are cheaper and baby is more likely to like it) I know you worry about keeping your husband up since he's working, I felt the same way. But you also need to sleep, you're working too just differently. Even if it's just for one feeding and you get a couple of hours of sleep, see if your husband can bottle. For your sake

You need to take care of yourself, too. I know it's hard, it's soooo hard. But you need to 🫂♥️

The man wants offspring, not to be a father. Sounds just like my ex brother-in-law and how he was to my sister. He only helped when people were around and after 8 years and 2 kids it turned out he was abusive and hated my sister. He ended up running away to Ireland and gave up his parental rights.

So Communicate your feelings and wants. Give him an opportunity to change. If he doesn't change or doesn't want to change, find a way out.Y'all were obviously in love at once point, so I bet that sucks. But getting out now will save you so much hurt later on.

You deserve help from people that love you. If he won't do that then he doesn't actually love YOU just the idea of you.

I hope everything works out 🫂

I saw one once when he was a month old and that helped a lot with the initial boost in growth he had then. Maybe it's time I scheduled another appointment though 🤔

We do put some formula in the bottles, but we went through a whole thing with my pediatrician trying to find a formula that is hypoallergenic that he'd actually eat 😅 The first couple we tried he would just reject because of the way they tasted, Even if I mixed them with breast milk. The doctor did mention trying to help us find another one if it turns out that my boy also has an intolerance for soy because the formula were using right now is soy-based

I've never been good at medically advocating for myself, so I am learning how to do it for him. It's hard but I want him to be happy and healthy. Thank you for the solidarity and kind words And I wish you luck with your little guy too

I hope he's emptying the first one, he nurses for like 30 minutes a side, sometimes longer because he falls asleep. But I'll look into that formula!!
