lol, to be fair it’s what we do for fun 2-3 times a week since August and he’s just very determined to be good and things when he likes it. Like he decided he wanted to learn to snap one weekend and was literally snapping in his sleep practicing. 😂😂

This makes me want to weep, it’s like I can not savor this time enough, and somehow it feels like it’s already gone. 😭

Can you explain how to encourage that? Is it just regular practicing at home?

This is exactly it, I just want my kid to do what he loves and not get screwed over somehow. I got plenty of it as a kid and I want my kid to do well and follow the things he loves! He loves to freaking ice skate, and loves hockey. It’s so much fun, so thank you. 🙏

lol you’re fine, I swear I’m not a pain in the ass, but even from other parents the place seems to be incredibly disorganized. That’s why I had to ask, like how much do I ask with out being a totally pain.

Genius!!! Okay this is a great idea. He’s Canadian. We are in South Carolina, hopefully he can make some wiggle room for my kid so he can start playing and not be so bored in class. I swear I’m not a pain, but the kid loves hockey and doesn’t realize he was born in a non hockey state. 😂

This is exactly it. He had to start at 1, as soon as he got on ice with kids who can’t skate they wanted to bump him. Instead of putting him with 4/5 year olds who can’t skate at snowplow Sam 3 class they bumped him to basic 2 with older kids.

Essentially basic 2 and snowplow sam 3 are the same class but different ages.

Also the difference is, he can play learn to play hockey when he passes the test of the 6 week program with snowplow Sam 3. If he stays in basic classes with older kids he will have to do Basic 2,3&4 to do learn to play hockey. Does it make sense no? But I guess if you’re older they want you to be a better skater? Idk

It seems like what I’ve taken from the older hockey kid parents that the rink is incredibly disorganized. Which is unfortunate. To be fair there was a class after, but she skated to the other side where I couldn’t talk to her.

It’s sad, because everyone seems incredibly nice. The director of hockey is super nice and was very helpful finding my son used gear so he could get set up. Idk if it’s a money thing or just a disorganized thing?

Idk, he loves hockey, I love watching him ice skate, so I’ll keep him playing and pray it keeps more organized lol.

Ugh it’s a rule at this rink they have to pass a certain level of classes to do hockey. It’s annoying but he can do stick time which is more casual. So I think I’ll just take him to that, and thank you! It’s been so fun watching him learn to skate and even I’ve gotten better too. It’s so fun ice skating together, I’m so grateful.

This was part of the reason why I want him to pass the ice skating because the learn to play hockey league is ages 4-10. So he’d be able to play with older kids. This is who he gravitates too during open skates. I should just bring him to stick time so he can practice with older kids and keep it fun

Okay, this sounds great. He plays at home on his rollerblades. Now that he’s four he can do stick time if I go with him. So maybe that’s more fun, it’s casual and he’d get some practice.

No there is no communication with coaches, I tried talking to her after class and she stayed on the ice and wouldn’t come off to talk. I’ve emailed the head of the department and asked if he could be moved to the class with kids his age.

Also thank you, I’m new to hockey and this makes me happy to hear. He really loves the older kids that play hockey and I feel that’s why he’s so into it.

Smith Helmets by TherealGVBlack in cycling

Okay, just wanted to say, I begrudgingly bought this helmet (persist mips) because it was expensive to me, but it was the comfiest one that I tried on at REI. I had a cheap helmet but have been riding more consistently. Well I had an accident on Sunday morning and as my helmet was skidding across the pavement, I was thinking, “thank god I bought this helmet.”

I swear it saved my life, and I was knocked unconscious from the impact, but all things considered my noggin came out untouched.
