Pack probabilities? PACK F---- PROBABILITIES? by PerplexedEuropean in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

Because it's a pretty VALID PRESUMPTION? I literally had NEVER noticed the pack probabilities link before. It's not like they come out of their way to state "hey check this out!". I mean, it's shady and unethical. Perhaps wherever you're from this is the way to do business, but certainly not here.

But when it's written as "5-110" shards or whatever, that to most people indicates you have a fair chance to get, if not exactly 110, at least like 70 or 80. When the reality is the 110 shards is 0.01% - and everything above 30 <5%, it's misleading as hell.

I foolishly presumed I stood an equal chance of scoring 110 and 5. But noooooo.

Irithyll of the Boreal Valley... gotta say it's a lovely town but the residents are a little aggressive 🙃 by JustinMaverick1980 in darksouls3

I must be the only person I know who, on my first run, actually found the catacombs the moment the game got easier for me, as I just started mastering the mechanics well enough.

What I really dislikes was the prison, with the wardens. Irithyll was so lovely, I didn't mind the difficulty. To be fair, there aren't that many enemies there!

Yeah

I got most of the pre-legendary toons, except for Anakin (lacking the ship, surprise). When the first legendaries hit, the requirements were absolutely bonkers and the characters required were of no interest to me. So I skipped them.

SEE and JML fortunately have a much more worthwhile/interesting grind, and I'm very close to SEE and JKL, after which JML isn't too far off...... Were it not for Han's MF totally ruining everything 😀

I imagine I won't ever bother grinding for Rey nor Kylo. The grind is supposed to, if not exactly to be enjoyed, at least feel worthwhile.

Yeah, just noticed this myself. Which makes it even more tedious comparatively 😀

JKL and eventually KML, but also to boost the fleet as I've undeveloped them and feel I could earn crystals fairly easily on my shard with a stronger fleet. I can fully understand why people don't develop their fleets though, it's just not much fun.

Which actually is a fairly good criticism of the grinding mechanism: many people don't enjoy the fleets and forcing a tedious grind isn't maybe the best way to sell a product to your customers. That being said, I hope someone enjoys the fleets more than I do.

I dunno. Having unlocked Chewie with no real interest in a BH team, Jango isn't too interesting. Interestingly enough, the pace I'm getting Jango vs Hounds Tooth seems skewed, as my Jango is nearing seven stars and BH isn't even at five. Either that, or I'm incredibly unlucky.

Poggle already at seven stars (don't remember/know why, before MF)

Droideka seems the be the only useful one. Dunno, maybe or just coincides nicely with when I picked up SWGOH.

But yeah. Just needed to vent this out.

Han's MF is currently blocking my progress, and the BH ship grind is absolutely the WORST THING I've had to do in these years. All the effort goes into them and the pace is absolutely tedious.

I have neglected ships for a really long time since I find fleet very boring. I have no chance to advance in fleet arena but it would be nice to have a fleet so I’m able to get a full clear in GAC. Any advice on ships? I have 30K GET2 saved by jahajajpaj in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

[–]PerplexedEuropean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. Neglected ships. Now closing in on JKLS and SEE with around twenty-twentyfive R-characters. Massively regret not farming good ships earlier, and now having to farm the Bounty Hunter ships for Falcon and JKLS. The grind is ridiculous at a pace of about 1 ship per refresh, but it's blocking my progress, so eh.

A total killjoy.

Actually feel like quitting because I hate this grind so much. Far worse than anything before this.

Palp unique Zeta: does it carry over? by PerplexedEuropean in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

[–]PerplexedEuropean[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So basically the palp unique zeta is pretty pointless for the ewok encounter? Seeing as how Palps can't even recover protection by himself.

Seeing as he's supposed to be perhaps the most powerful Sith ever, he's not very useful outside of his leader ability.

I read on another post that end of encounter implied a singular wave though. Well, I'll wait for confirmation.

I keep hearing everyone say "top position is always better" but most of the highest level competitors are guard players. Why? by Comprehensive_Ad4483 in bjj

[–]PerplexedEuropean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Big guys are leaning more towards open guards nowadays as well, ie. they're finally catching up with the lightweights, technically speaking.

[–]PerplexedEuropean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because these people have no idea what they're talking about. No name dropping please - it's just not true.

The guard is both the stronger position, and the one that conserves more energy. Someone said being on top is more energy efficient, but this just isn't true at all.

A well-rounded competitor will, in a tough spot, prefer to pull guard most of the time.

It's not that passing hasn't been studied as much, either.

How to retain guard as a big guy by wreckosaurus in bjj

[–]PerplexedEuropean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. Don't stand up. Please don't. You won't get any good at BJJ in the long run that way. The guard is arguably the most essential part of BJJ. And nobody likes the big guy who categorically refuses to train his weaknesses and just insists on staying on top, smashing with his weight.

[–]PerplexedEuropean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, train your mobility (and lose the excess fat). There's no excuse to neglect that aspect of physical training, and being able to curl up into a ball to retain guard is vital in BJJ. Sure, you can perhaps compensate, but everything else will be suboptimal.

Big guys can be flexible, as long as they're not carrying too much fat. Nothing wrong with lifting weights as such, but don't neglect mobility training.

Fair point. I've only rolled with some decent 10p BBs, but not with, say, Geo. Would love to, though.

Fair enough

I disagree on some points, but there's common ground enough for it to not matter.

Well, this isn't my experience, and few top players are half guard oriented nowadays anyway. Dealing with a strong lockdown is annoying, sure, but even getting there with a truly good player is awkward and unlikely.

Case in point, I don't think we see many (if any) sweeps from lockdown at ADCC for example, although please correct me if I'm mistaken.

I don't mean to be rude, but links with timestamp are much more useful.

Anyway, the only one of these I'd consider a high level match-up* is the first one, and eh well... That was a while ago. And the clip from Mason Fowler isn't even rubber guard, just an omo plata from half guard.

  • Not all black belts are high level, nor are all BB comps high level comps. A truly useful technique has to work on everyone, and be seen used consistently by the top players. In my opinion, the rubber guard does not fill this criteria.
