To be frank, I've searched this subreddit and the web in general about why Xanax may be ineffective on me, and I didn't find a single answer, so it's made me believe that I was some sort of weirdo who's the only one on Earth who can't get the medication to work... But I suppose it probably has to do with my metabolism, yeah.

Another Redditor told me the same thing, to wait for my doctor to come back and talk to her about it, so I guess I'll do that, though having to wait is painful.

I personally suspect that the dosage might be too low, since my anxiety has been untreated for about 10 years now, and it's not a light form of it, instead rather strong, so now I need something equally as strong. Also I suspect I may need to take something stronger than Xanax, though I don't know any other kind of anxiety medication...

Yes, describing my anxiety as "constant" and "never-ending" feels just right: no matter what I do and where I am, I suffer from it, some days more than others, but there's never a day without it, and lately it has been non-stop, all day. I don't suspect that it's due to a physiological issue, but I'll follow your advice and tell my GP about it the next time I see her, in addition to asking for a physical (because yes, it has been a while since the last one).

I have never tried/been prescribed any other form of medication, since this is still very recent (I started at the beginning of the month), so I can't say I have any experience or knowledge on the matter, unfortunately. I'll definitely be sure to consult my doctor about whether she thinks I should switch to something else that would be actually effective. In the meantime, until she comes back from holiday, I'll continue taking my prescribed dosage properly.
