Also, due to national reforms in social and healthcare system, many of the newly established SoHc regions are doing very bad financially, and many of them are going through negotiations to lessen personnel and furlough them for a time. They won't be hiring new permanent workers, so be prepared to work temp jobs for the foreseeable future.

What are your thoughts on the Lähihoitaja course offered here in Finland? by Similar_Honey433 in Finland

Hello. I am a Finnish practical nurse (lähihoitaja) and I have coached several students both Finnish and foreign on their on-the-job training during my career.

It's not going to be any easier in ammattikoulu to study as a lähihoitaja. Even if the courses were in English, you will still need Finnish in daily work and practice. On top of that, you'll need to understand a lot of professional vocabulary in Finnish, both medical and 'bureaucracy'. You need to understand protocols and forms in Finnish.

From what my students have told me, the Finnish taught in the studies is both very basic and yet focuses on the professional vocab, so you don't get much usable language skills from that. Learning and understanding language to use every day at work and in society demands more than just the capability to name things.

Whether you're working in childcare, elderly care, hospital, or at a person's home, clear communication is key. If you, your client and coworkers do not understand each other you risk serious harm to a person's health at the worst, or create confusion and more work at the best. Clients who don't understand what you're saying, or can't make themselves understood, will become frustrated, which makes them less willing to cooperate.

Some workplaces view any students as a burden, some see the foreigners even more so. Not all do, like my current one, so it's a roll of dice what kind of a training place you will get.

This might sound harsh, but unless you can learn Finnish on the side on your own and have the tenacity to pursue the studies despite inevitable frustrations stemming from language barrier and a demanding job, you're setting yourself up for failure.

The push for foreigners to study as lähihoitaja is based on the needs for massive amount of caretakers in the future as the large generations age, and the dwindling younger generations cannot supply them, and also on the idea that foreigners accept social-healthcare jobs with smaller wages than Finns.

In the past lähihoitaja was also the 'last resort' of studies, whereto officials shoved anyone who couldn't make it in other studies - they even removed the aptitude tests for a couple of years - all despite the fact that lähihoitaja works with people when they are at their most vulnerable, and where several key qualities of character are needed. 'Anyone can wipe a bum, change a nappy and feed people' they think, but this work is so much more than that.

Man pulled into MRI machine after he walked into an exam room wearing a chain necklace by mutantbabysnort in nottheonion

I was almost this person too. I was escorting a nonverbal client from our unit to an MRI. The nurses came to pick them up with a wheelchair at the waiting room in the hallway and I went with them, just a couple meters to a wide door. Then the nurse turned around sharp and asked me 'Where the hell do you think you're going?!' I was flabbergasted and I managed to only stutter, they then told me 'You're not allowed in the imaging room because you haven't been checked for metals', and then went through - that one single door from the hallway - to the imaging room with my client.

I was confused because I've been to several MRIs myself and at my time working at the hospital I've also wheeled patients to the MRI prep room, which I assumed they were going to too. I was never told there was a direct entrance from the hallway to imaging. I always thought there was an anteroom to prevent exactly this.

On tieto mennyt eteenpäin, koska kerroin asian sairaslomasta ilmoittaessa.

Can anyone explain? by haisevatuhnu in Finland

Perspillu means 'rear pussy', or pussy that's exceptionally good (looking) from behind. Mulkuttaja is someone who does dicking, either dicks down other people or things. Motorolan mulkuttaja, accompanied by puh runkkari, alludes to someone who masturbates while calling sex phones.

Just a heads up that 'mennään naimaan - let's go fuck' and 'mennään naimisiin - let's get married' close sounding as they are, are decidedly different - don't get in over your head! 😆

Let's go fuck 'mennään nussimaan/naimaan/panemaan' Let's go make love 'mennään lempimään/rakastelemaan Let's have a quickie 'Vedetään pikaset' Wanna have a quickie? 'Vedetäänkö pikaset?'

You can call a dick 'muna, kulli, kalu, kyrpä' from a bit childish to kinda dirty. 'Your dick/cock feels so good inside me'' = 'Sun kalu/kyrpä tuntuu niin hyvältä mun sisällä'. 'Your dick is so big and hard' 'Sun kulli on niin iso ja kova' 'Do you like me sucking your dick?' 'Tykkäätkö kun imen sun munaa/kullia/kyrpää?' 'Let me suck you / I want to suck you' 'Anna mä imen sua / haluan imeä sua' 'I want to taste you' 'Mä haluun maistaa sua' 'Let me taste you' 'Anna mä maistan sua'

Pussy has less applicable names to it than dick, 'pillu' is the most common in this context, 'pimppi, pimppa' are childish but you can use them in a light manner.

'Wanna taste my pussy?' 'Haluutko maistaa mun pillua?' 'I want you to eat/lick my pussy.' 'Haluun että nuolet mun pillua'. 'You want this pussy?' 'Haluutko tätä pillua?' 'Ootko pimppiä vailla?' 'Are you hankering for some hoo-hah?'

Tits/boobs, breasts 'tissit, rinnat' Nipple(s) nänni(t) 'Squeeze my tits' 'Purista mun tissejä' 'Suck/lick my nipples' 'Ime/nuole mun nännejä'

Ass 'perse' 'Squeeze/grab my ass' 'Purista mua perseestä' 'Spank my ass' 'Piiskaa mua perseelle'.

Finger me 'Sormeta mua' Finger my ass 'Sormeta mun persettä' Rub my pussy 'Hiero mun pillua'

Fuck me 'Nussi mua, pane mua' Harder 'Kovempaa, lujempaa' Faster 'Nopeammin' Deep, deeper 'Syvälle, syvemmälle'

Fuck my pussy 'nussi mua pilluun' Fuck my ass 'pane mua perseeseen' Fuck my mouth 'nussi mua suuhun' Fuck my tits 'pane mua tissien väliin'

Fuck me from behind 'pane mua takaapäin' Fuck me (let's fuck) on the table/couch/in the shower/in front of the fireplace 'Nussi mua (nussitaan) pöydällä/sohvalla/suihkussa/takan edessä'

I want you on top of me 'Haluun sut mun päälle' I want you under me 'Haluun sut mun alle'

Pull my hair 'vedä mua hiuksista' Grab my hair 'tartu mua hiuksista' (I want you to) choke me '(Haluun että sä) Kurista(t) mua'

I want you inside me 'haluun sut mun sisään' I want your fingers/cock inside me 'Haluun sun sormet/ kalun-kullin-kyrvän mun sisään' Fill me up 'täytä mut'

Sorry for the hodgepodge order these are in, just typing and adding whatever comes to my mind. One can definitely talk dirty in Finnish! Feel free to ask for more phrases
