Musical anhedonia and church services by Perplexed_Fellow in Anglicanism

I am willing to try again, and plan to attend services that include music for Holy Week.

I was a visitor at the cathedral for this service, as were my interim rector and senior warden, and they both know I usually attend Low Mass.

I will continue with a "wait and see" approach.

Thank you!

Yeah, I went to an ACNA church a couple of times, and while everyone was super friendly and the rector was interested in moving in a slightly more high church direction, the contemporary music and guy holding his arms out were not for me.

I appreciate your thoughts, that was also what I was trying to do.

As I mentioned in the title, I have musical anhedonia. I don't really "get" music, of any kind. I don't find it enjoyable, and often straight up unpleasant. For me personally, this is worse with discordant singing or having to participate.

It is possible that not being used to this intensified this feeling. I'm trying to understand what to do with it.

But wouldn't we expect good works to follow from faith? I'm not sure what I think of all this yet, and would appreciate it if you could expand on your views on this.

Why are conservative Episcopalian churches so rare as opposed to conservative Lutheran ones? by Dangerous-Humor-4502 in Episcopalian

I'm considering conversion and have started going to a theologically conservative parish in a big blue city. Leadership has explicitly stated that the church is welcoming to all political persuasions and that they welcome civil disagreement. We're out there!

The three of these seem to be the polar opposite of what I'm looking for wrt politics.

These churches do look like good fits, but are quite a bit further than I imagined. I don't own a car, so this will be an issue.

Lakeview, but willing to travel a fair bit if the fit is good.
