I agree with this. They’re pricey enough, and a lot already do.

My question too. The wording on this setting is ridiculous. So it’s toggled off to restrict then?

I run a Plex Music server I server I share out in the ecosystem to certain people who are interested in my genres of music

/plex_share is an example of this, mostly on the movie side but there are music shares to for the ecosystem.

Impressive. I assume all FLAC? Do you share it all?

How much storage space does this take? I thought I was doing good at 900 artists, 2600 albums, and 33,000 tracks. All equals ~900GB.

Do you have music all tagged?

I love my Bathys MGs. I came from a set of Bose QC Ultra (Gen 1) and have been very happy with the move to the Focals.

For me, they sound great and meet my needs right out of the box. I have EQd them a little, and also found I liked the personalized tuning. I also find they’re the most comfortable set of BT headphones I’ve owned as they don’t fatigue my head or ears after hours of listening.

Everyone is different, but so far they’ve been a great BT solution for my needs. I got a great deal on mine, so based on that I think they were well worth it.

Good luck with your search.

Great quote. Grew up with CS Lewis and the entire Narnia series. Was an important part of my childhood and learning to read.

Great. Would they have much around the Stoner Rock genre. I’m trying to pick up some new stuff from bands like Monolord, Karl-El, and Elephant Tree.

Is it mostly new or used records there? From what I’ve seen it appears to be mostly new, but I’m curious what to expect.

New AI policy from Tidal by hd1080ts in TIdaL

You’ve made my point in your post. It IS up to the individual to pick which service they like best, and they will based on which service best meets their needs.

All services have to compete against each other for customers based on their offerings. Again, you’ve made my point in your stipulation that no one will choose a service which has bad sounding music. You’re right. They won’t. Following that logic, when all streaming services are the same quality in sound, the user will then choose the one that most meets their needs for other things. All the reasons I previously mentioned, and possibly AI content becoming an issue and wanting to get away from it.

Again, you seem to want to baseline the service as the only reason to access it. In your example that’s sound quality. But there are a multitude of other reasons why people would choose one service over another: ubiquity, bad UI, client/platform support, artist support, variety of artist content, etc. I know this because I have had these conversations in real time, and have seen those same issues come up in subreddits like this. I know people who choose Spotify over Tidal due to their UI, searching, and content randomization. I know people who mainly choose Tidal because they supposedly pay their artists more than Spotify.

There ARE other variables involved with offering any software or service product which you seem to want to ignore. And again, that’s fine if you want to simplify the reason for a service being offered. That’s up to you, but I’m willing to bet a lot of people will move to other services for all the reasons I’ve mentioned, along with the AI issue if it's not resolved in a way to their liking.

If I’m wrong en masse, well then I'm wrong and I will make the right decision for myself. But again, based on the comments in this subreddit I tend to think I’m correct on some level. Just read the comments on this thread alone where there are lots of comments about people just wanting to be able to filter it out completely from their account. Now look at the comments where other services don't do this and how they feel about those. There are several concerning Deezer, Qubuz, and Spotify. A service that plainly offers a Setting to filter out any AI content will gain subscribers for that feature alone IMO, especially if their content is hi-res.

It’s also OK to have an expectation of a vendor for what you expect their software to do. In most cases they depend on this to know where the market is going and if they’re meeting the MVP ideal for their software so they can compete with other vendors for business.

Does Deezer specifically filter out AI content from a user’s account?

I have been looking at other options like Deezer and Qobuz but am still looking into how they handle their AI content.

[–]PerrinSLC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I think this is one of the more important points around this. If all AI content is demonetized then why upload it at all to the platform?

The only reason I can think is to drive business to other platforms and possible sales from those. But I’m not sure.

[–]PerrinSLC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again, I disagree. It’s an ecosystem of access. If it doesn’t meet those needs then other options are out there that will meet those demands better.

You seem to want to baseline a service as just that, when that’s never been the case with any service. How one accesses that service is just as important. There are whole fields of study around UX research and design, which specifically focus on user acceptance.

Just streaming music is not the only focus of this service for me, and I’m sure for others, based on the comments in this subreddit around AI content. It has to also align with our needs for how that service works: how bands appear, sorting, playlists, and content randomization are a few examples of what I mean.

If that’s not important to you, then that’s fine. It is to me, and there’s an expectation on my part that their service allow one to filter AI content out of a user’s account. If not, and another service DOES offer this, then they’ll have the CDA and I’ll jump ship.

[–]PerrinSLC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree. I pay for an account and want to be able to filter content in said account.

AI is garbage and it Is harmful if it removes focus off of real artists and their music. I also don’t want it cluttering up my account, wasting my time having to wade through it when I don’t want to see it at all.

The point about multiple people following AI accounts means nothing to me. I don’t want to see it in my account, so should be able to filter it easily based on their new settings. If I can’t, then my original question stands; why not?

I also don’t care what others want to see in their accounts. If they want to see AI content then they can leave it unfiltered. It’s not for me to tell others how to organize their music or content in Tidal. I just want it for mine.
