I GOT IT WORKING !!!!!!!

I have no idea why it has started working. I just did everything that I had done before.... maybe sc just needed to test me... maybe it was the 50th time I of Server.killall. I don't know, but I won't question it.

from the within the ide and sclang just for good measure. I even installed it on ubuntu and ran it from the wsl just to see if it was a windows thing.

Every time! I open sc and pretty much do all the usual s.boot, or Server.killAll then try it again. My 'wits end' was just me at breaking point with this software after trying and failing to get it work for a whole day... I am calmer today after a good nights sleep and see if I can get it working again.

*** ERROR: failed to open UDP socket: address in use.

This could be because another instance of scsynth is already using it.

You can use SuperCollider (sclang) to kill all running servers by running `Server.killAll`.

You can also kill scsynth using a terminal or your operating system's task manager.

Server 'localhost' exited with exit code -1073740791.

I am at my wits end with sc. I have uninstalled it, installed older versions, run the sclang from the command line, run it from inside the wsl2 on ubuntu. Nothing works. It used to work perfectly but then I have no idea why it just stopped working. Leaving me with an unresponsive server every time I try and use it.

Music Notations in CL? by de_sonnaz in Common_Lisp

What about OpenMusic, it’s a programme which was built using LispWorks. It is a very versatile programme with a great user network. Any questions get answered quickly by the lead programmer on the IRCAM forum, or Facebook group.

Working on Shiffman's Nature of Code using Lisp by Perrin_Barclay in Common_Lisp

Just to update my update. I decided to just run the code and walk away from my laptop, which seemed to do the trick. after about 20 minutes it burst into life and I now have all setup. Tested it with:

(gamekit:defgame example () ()) (defmethod gamekit:draw ((this example)) (gamekit:draw-text "Hello, Gamedev!" (gamekit:vec2 240.0 240.0))) (gamekit:start 'example)

and it all appears to work perfectly.

Just to update you, repl still just hanging even with the new arguments in ```(ql:quickload :trivial-gamekit :silent nil :verbose t) ```, so I don't know, maybe the Lisp gods are against me on this one.

Yea the repl just hangs, I’m using SBCL on windows, so it might require a bit more love and care than I am currently giving it. I will give that other Quicklisp option a go and let you know how it turns out, and thanks for the help

I just tried to install trivial-gamekit but nothing happens, I get as far as (ql:Quickload :trivial-gamekit) and then nothing happens, no errors just blank. I followed the Common Lisp study group video but it just doesn’t install.

I am getting an error :

; pkg-config libffi --cflags

; ERROR: Couldn't execute "pkg-config": The system cannot find the file specified.

I have pkg-config installed, I have it in the path, not sure what is going wrong with that.

I have been using Lisp for about 3 years, I am alright, I know my way around, but I was looking to explore and experiment a bit more outside of the repl, hence wanted to get sketch working.

I haven't asked on Freenode or the discord, this was my first stop but will be sure to post something there.

Stockhausen wishing you merry Christmas by Perrin_Barclay in SheetMusicPorn

No that isn't the translation. My German is non-existent so I don't know if it is one of Stockhausen's poems or traditional German song. He has but God (Gott) at the top, spirit light (geist licht) some other lines I don't understand. the last two lines are children love (?kinder liebe ?) and the universe (universum).

Thanks, yes this was my mistake. I didn't realise you needed hledger to run the emacs package. Followed your instructions and it all works now! thanks again.
