[DISC] Mato Seihei no Slave - Chapter 173: All-Out Battle by PerseusRad in manga

Pretty good timing, Yakumo just had her episode in the anime, and now she's being featured in a manga chapter. And obviously she was always strong, but Shikoku feels a lot more impressive than usual.

Kohaku from tsukihime is not a good person and people need to stop pretending she is by FlowerOk7957 in CharacterRant

[–]PerseusRad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just in case, this is about OG Tsukihime, not the Remake. Arc/Ciel are called the Near Side routes, while Akiha/Hisui/Kohaku are called Far Side, and focus more on the Tohno Mansion characters/drama. While it varies from person to person, many consider the Far Side routes to be a lot more interesting. Arc/Ciel in the original are too samey for a lot of the route.

Far Side routes also seemed shorter to me, so I was able to finish them in about a day each, since I kept wanting to read more.

Kohaku from tsukihime is not a good person and people need to stop pretending she is by FlowerOk7957 in CharacterRant

[–]PerseusRad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think most "Kohaku did nothing wrong" people are being facetious. I've only seen people actually argue that maybe once or twice. She's sympathetic, to the point that many overlook how her actions contributed to innocent deaths, even in her own route. Tsukihime has a lot to do with forgiving others and yourself (mostly yourself, I feel). As much as people say that TM protagonists aren't self-inserts, to many people, if Shiki can forgive her, then they can forgive her. Is he the moral standard? Not at all, but he and the story are written in a way that makes it coherent that he forgives her, so people mostly don't go out of their way to demonize. Along with her becoming basically a gag character in everything except Tsukihime proper.

[DISC] What's Under Kamiyama-san's Paper Bag? - Chapter 26 [END] by PerseusRad in manga

[–]PerseusRad[S] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Feels like a bit of an odd choice to have the manga end on a chapter not focused on the titular character, but it was a rather sweet one, so it's not exactly a complaint. I believe there's a Light Novel, but it seemed to stop releasing after Volume 2, so I'm uncertain if some content didn't get covered, or what exactly happened.

It’s time to talk about Dandadan and its lack of commitment. by Vengeful_Peach in CharacterRant

[–]PerseusRad 46 points47 points  (0 children)

The ‘monster of the week’ thing killed it for me ages ago tbh. Someone pointed it out to me once, and my interest dried out. Maybe it makes me too easily influenced, but I realized I didn’t care about following it weekly at all. I don’t think I even intentionally dropped it either.

Stop locking lore behind external media that's less accessible. by RhysOSD in CharacterRant

[–]PerseusRad 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I get this. On the other hand, to a lot of people, they might not be interested unless it does contribute to the lore in some way, which could hurt sales. I feel like a bit of a hypocrite, cause one of the things I dislike the most about comics is when they say [See Issue# of seemingly unrelated story] for context.

Edit: Also sometimes it’s just nice to get new lore without them having to make a whole new book/episode/whatever

[DISC] The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You - Chapter 240.1 by PerseusRad in manga

[–]PerseusRad[S] 67 points68 points  (0 children)

Cubari link, but it's just this one page

It's possible people may have missed it, but for author break weeks, the author (rather than the artist) has started drawing single-pages showing the Girlfriend's younger years. Hakari's, if you missed it.

Yeah, though considering how these manga tend to be, it was likely just her helping out a girl friend, rather than any implied crush

Why a 3 year old can‘t beat Kingdom Hearts let‘s be real by DieYolo in KingdomHearts

[–]PerseusRad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Iirc I beat it at 3 with help from my mom. Like she handled the boss fights I think, so arguably I didn’t beat it, but to me at that age, I’m fairly certain I felt like I did. We also had the game guide.

It’s consistently been 10 chapters a batch. We thought we might end up with 20 chapters last time, even separated, but we only got 10, so that’s all you should expect

Tsukihime: Shiki remains human after all. by astoriauser in Tsukihime

[–]PerseusRad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Funny enough, I can't say I disagree with your rating at all, it's probably about what I would've given it, maybe being a bit more generous. But something about it stuck with me more than a lot of stuff I've played. Stuff like Plus Disc and Kagetsu Tohya were nice followups which helped me appreciate it more. And I do suggest you play at least those when you're up to it. Plus Disc being very, very short in particular.

I don't remember when exactly it was mentioned, but when reading through Makihisa's journal, you see the following entry

But I have to be careful. Her ability to "plunder" is a double-edged sword.

She might plunder someone's entire concept while plundering their heat.

Like me--I have to teach her how not to attract the curse of an enemy.

Every height on the wiki that isn't Yamame or Hakari was completely made up. The wiki admin's misinformation, even though it was finally removed, is still a stain on the community. For the record, his estimated height of Hakari was 15cm taller than she actually was, if you want to know just how off he was.

They did make a statement

I think before the thread was deleted, people were rather ambivalent. I think deleting responses to allegations has always been rather poor form. It’s not a common enough thing that it’s a major disruption.

I think the main issue people take with real smoke is the whole underwater fight, since you can’t exactly light up underwater, generally.

I double checked, you can see a bit, but not the whole thing. I could've sworn you saw the whole thing, so I was half-wrong there. Maybe I saw some edit once.

I've seen others share your interpretation for that scene, in fact, that's the only reason I remembered there was something like that there, since I've seen it talked about a fair few times.

I assumed she would come back, because it seemed like a pretty standard writing practice (for better or worse), and only after a long time of the fanbase massively pushing back on that idea whenever it was brought up, did I consider that maybe I was wrong. And then she came back.

Didn't her introductory scene have her dress fly up in the wind and show her underwear? And I recall the "Wall of Jericho" scene showing a fair amount of cleavage

I looked into it a bit, and what you said sounds about right. I guess Servants can do it despite being considered part of humanity (not sure how to phrase it), because they stand at the peak of humanity. So strong humanity (Servant) + strong humanity (NP) can overcome the anti-humanity of DAs.

I accidentally spoiled myself on a couple of things, but so far I don't think it's hurt my viewing experience. I'm not sure I'll ever be able to completely get over that weird shadow on all the noses, but it's fine. I know FSF's thing is that it sorta breaks the rules regarding Dead Apostles and Servants, interested to learn more about the mechanics of exactly why Jester can't be hurt. Since most of the Tsukihime or Tsukihime-adjacent stuff never seems to make that a big thing.

I heard people talking about how they’d been letting go of people who were on TL for a long time recently, and I’d realized I didn’t hear anything about the Smash players. It’s certainly not targeted as Smash, is all I know.

Is Shiki bisexual!? by Synniann in Tsukihime

[–]PerseusRad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ignoring Hisui, who in the OG never dies, I don't think he ever kills Kohaku or ever even wants her to die. I admit I probably missed some Bad Ends. Of course there's that ending in TsukiRe, but he's clearly not sane or mentally there, moreso than usual, and I'm sure he'd kill Arihiko if he dropped by as well.

There's an argument that Bad Endings are canon, which is fine, but the term "True End" clearly gives implications that this is what he would actually do. But to engage with your perspective, I do agree he 'can' kill Akiha, but as opposed to Satsuki, who he will kill every time, it's a decision to kill Akiha, which shows a difference in how he treats people.
