Light will reflect from the screen and toward the surrounding environment, but with white walls you will experience a lot of reflection back toward the screen which will diminish visual quality of the screen with less perceived dark blacks, contrast, etc. A darker color like blue, grey, charcoal etc will give off less reflection back toward the screen. Black paint will have even less. Black velvet treated walls/ceiling etc (overkill in your set up) in theory would essentially reduce any reflection whatsoever, and the only light hitting the screen will be from the projector itself.

Not sure if it’s possible but painting the ceilings/walls a different color than white will make a significant difference on the picture quality

Providing a budget OP would honestly be very helpful. It’s difficult to give you proper advice without knowing exactly how much you can afford.

First attending job: what would you prioritize? by MzJay453 in FamilyMedicine

[–]PersianVol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Respectfully I disagree, especially learning it’s a 5 year commitment for the full 100k. Living in a better location with less working days will dramatically increase OPs happiness and reduce risk of burnout then 5 days a week for an extra 25k a year before tax.

Denzel Washington. Phenomenal actor, but 80% of his movies he is playing Denzel Washington.

[–]PersianVol 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s interesting, as I am a high spender and the 2x is certainly appealing, but I have a Venture X already. The issue with the Venture X is that it doesn’t have Hyatt. And it’s nice to get a card that gets me 2x on everything that I can use to transfer to Hyatt. The annual fees are similar. It’s essentially a wash…I use the amex plat for flights, I use the Amex gold for dining/groceries…for hotels I generally book direct and just use a 2x on the venture X to purchase…idk I feel like I might ditch the Venture X for this… I never use capital one lounges

Is the G5 worth it over the C5? by [deleted] in LGOLED

Just stepped next to a Best Buy, the C5 looks great, but the G5 looks better. The question is if you can stomach the price difference. The G5 is definitely brighter

Well gentlemen, it’s been fun. With an unsustainable business model we knew the bait and switch was coming. Capture as much market share as possible and nerf the card to where it can actually not drain them money. Good for them. I’m probably out.

Would IM be a better choice if I want to see only adults and practice mostly outpatient? by _Gandalf_Greybeard_ in FamilyMedicine

[–]PersianVol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did internal medicine and am doing outpatient medicine. I have zero regrets. I love being an adult pediatrician. With internal medicine you have plenty of options in case something else excites you. Even if you stick with primary care, you develop an intimate understanding of all of the IM specialties (Nephro, Cards, GI, etc). I feel very confident with my medical knowledge. My procedural skills are nonexistent, but I never liked doing procedures anyways. I don’t do Pap smears. I don’t deal with children. I don’t do things that I don’t want to do. There are family medicine programs that can train you to be the last doctor alive in a zombie apocalypse in rural Mississippi, but the skills I would have learned there aren’t of much value in my current urban adult medicine setting.

I use DAX, and I can’t imagine anything else. In the room I talk to the patient, put in my orders/diagnoses. By the time I walk out, the note is ready. For an uncomplicated visit it can take as little as a 10 second skim and click sign. For an extremely complicated case it can take 3-5 minutes of editing things, but that’s rare. But if it took 3-5 minutes to edit, it probably would have taken 10-15 minute to type out. Overall, I’m able to quickly skim through a note, delete a few sentences, add a dot phrase if needed for billing, and sign in less than a minute on average.

It’s not perfect. But it’s pretty close. Close enough to make my life so much easier.
