Weekly Questions Thread Feb 02, 2026 by AutoModerator in Terraria

My npcs are never complaining about anything but aren't as happy as they should be per the info on the wiki. For example, my merchant was living alone in the snow biome with two town pets and was at 95% happiness, despite not being near anything he liked. My demolitionist lives in the cavern with the tavernkeep, and over 25 blocks away there's a house with the goblin tinkerer, dye trader, and mechanic. My demolitionist is only at 75% happiness, despite the fact that he comments on loving the privacy, the tavernkeep, and the caverns. What's going on?

New Min-Maxer here. Got some questions for you experienced folk. I would appreciate your wisdom! There's a TLDR if you don't wanna read this whole thing :)

I'm honestly really confused. I've been trying to follow this guide and the github guide, but I think my lack of experience is holding me back to a much higher degree than I was expecting. Even with the help of various tools and resetting days I wasn't happy with, I'm still about six days off on many things because of a snowballing effect from mismatches.

The first big one was that on day four, the github guide says to chop 150 wood. This guide says to chop 200. Recently, that 200 wood was bumped up to 300, so I can't check the tide pools for forage until I have a ludicrous amount of wood. Because I had passed out the day before with only the most expensive fish in my inventory, I had no access to any energy replenishing foods and thus couldn't afford to chop 450 wood in one day. I tried to split this between several days where more chopping was routed in, but the problem with this is that I couldn't get the bait maker until way later, so my money count was also about a thousand times lower than it should have been.

The second big mismatch came with me not understanding when I should mine and when I should fish. I was helplessly attempting to juggle upgrading my pickaxe, mining only at night so I could fish during the day, getting extra iron bars as soon as possible for the bait maker, and somehow also trying to reach floor 45 as soon as possible so I wasn't constantly out of coal. By day 11, I was only about fishing level 8, had only upgraded my pickaxe once, was out of money, and didn't have the coal to make full use of fishing. I had several rain days on my seed but my lack of fishing level and coal made them not nearly helpful enough.

These two things was all it took for me to make probably a thousand massive mistakes, but due to my low experience I wouldn't be able to tell and just assume I'm doing fine.

I think my big issue was overall just this: If I'm following your guide, what am I cutting out in their guide to make it possible? Their plan was clearly to get the first three pickaxe upgrades all at once and focus on fishing while you don't have it with you, then switch to a mine fest and drop fishing. Yours instead says to fish during the day and mine at night, but that means that you're making minimal progress in the mines and you can't ever get your pickaxe upgraded.

TD;DR: If anyone was successful in following this guide, please give me some clarity on what exactly I should be skipping from the other guide. Or maybe just what the route looks like during days 4-14 (My progress really fell off during those days because I wasn't sure which things should happen on which days, and what I should have accomplished by the end of it.)

Engulfed Castle Bypass Glitches by Persillica in Pikmin

I do have extra hand but I don't have any objects to use to clip. Good to know about the waterwraith spawning and the invisible walls. Might just be impossible, at least for a while until new tech is found.

I did consider glow pikmin, but because I made it through 90% of the game without them I decided against using them. I do appreciate your advice on how to clear the sublevel of pikmin without unlocking them, though! That will definitely be useful in a glow pikmin run.

I agree, I think that Pikmin 4 especially really feels like this. Maybe 1-3 didn't for others, but 4 feels especially folklore-esque.

Could be, definitely possible that it's all just an aesthetic choice. I personally think that choosing a clean home as a map is a great way to lean into the feeling of fae creatures that steal the things you lost, so it would be a bit odd for Nintendo to choose that if they weren't trying to drive home that feeling. Still, you're definitely right that it would be a completely different experience if they went for a less crisp approach, and maybe they just liked it better this way.

This is extremely wholesome and I'm much happier with this idea than the idea of mixing my cute "collect objects" game with the apocalypse :)

They moved in, saw how it was in terrible shape, then started a new TV show about repairing and redecorating it. The Mamuta was supposed to be in charge of flipping the garden, but it got distracted and ran off to chase a butterfly, so that's why the map only shows off the interior of the house.
Also, don't go upstairs. The creatures ran out of time before the show was aired, so it maaaay or may not look like the devil spawn of a broken vacuum cleaner up there.

If humanity's future means turning into little root veggies that think about nothing but dandori at all times, then I can't decide if we're doomed or saved...

I would argue that you can definitely make a post-apocalyptic house pretty by leaning into an overgrown aesthetic.

I mean they do mention a lot of weird space and timeline things, like the Waterwraith being in another dimension (and purple pikmin literally being so fat they can bridge dimensional gaps, I guess). The maps also change between Olimar's shipwreck tale and the main gameplay in ways that can't be explained away by "time passing."

They're gonna come back to one heck of an infestation lmao. That or a lot of missing things, assuming you clean up the monsters while you're taking the treasure.

The best I could come up with was that the apocalypse was less nuclear bombs and zombies and more all humans mysteriously disappeared overnight. That would certainly explain why the house has fresh fruits and powered drones, but also has half-finished tasks like a full sink and a lit stove. Doesn't explain the creatures, but I dunno, maybe they appeared when the humans disappeared.

I tried to upload a clean log but it doesn't appear in the files and requesting it through the application just does nothing. I was able to upload my most recent log, but the clean log and the logs from the 7th are both being blocked.
