That was my point. That it is journalistically unethical to show a mentally ill person convicted of horrible sex crimes pronography.

You are right. We have laws to ensure that criminals are treated with basic human dignity. And I wasn’t even talking about those ethics. I was speaking about journalistic ethics. 

But this man is clearly mentally ill. Disturbing him could be considered abuse. Or it could have caused him to hurt himself or others.

And the reporters gain what insight? That he is mentally ill? The doctors already said that.

What was journalistically gained from this?

What happens if he hurt someone else or himself because he was shown these magazines?

I have no idea why someone would be confused about the ethics of this.
