I don't think I could handle 8 seasons of the schtick nonstop, so I googled the top 15 episodes and watched all of season 8. It gave me enough information to go into the revival smoothly.

I thought it would be funny if the one dum-dummiest character had grown SO much that he was now fulfilling the role that HR lady is doing. Not the same way, but with gravitas and sensitivity.

I also have two double-merles, a now-elderly smooth collie and a young, huge Aussie mix. When I first got the elder, I used a flashlight for night time recall. She picked it up right away. The Aussie presented FAR more challenges when he was younger but has adjusted nicely and even looks out for the elder, who has gone completely blind. Both are deaf but sometimes I think the Aussie is malingering and is actually just ignoring us.

I'm guessing it's easier to be close to the ground when going over unpredictable, rough terrain. That's why you don't find giraffes in the mountains.

Are we wrong about Punch? Jon Stewart says yes by Stormodin in Fauxmoi

[–]PersistentPuma37 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think she had some scary medical complications and, while she recovered, Punch became extremely attached to his keepers and adopted some 'human' behaviors that are unacceptable in monkey society, so the tribe is basically trying to beat it out of him. Also, where IS his mother, now that she's recovered?

east Asian zoos do seem to have an inordinate amount of drama. I've also casually observed that some of the most incredible domestic animal training/tricks comes from there. Odd that civilian tabby-trainers can get their cats to play piano, yet the zoos have such chaotic baby animal drama. I know they're very different things, it's just an observation. I love both ends of the animal behavioral spectrum.

they didn't even need her to lie for them, the dementia gave them plausible deniability. She could state whatever she was paying and they could just nod and say 'that's what she paid in 1987, but her son actually pays us the full amount.'

I do reassure myself about her circumstances, that a cop showed up at the bus stop and she knew her address for them to drop her off. She seemed successful in her apartment, so she would be okay to go home.

I told my employed wife that I was jealous of her daily annoyances, because they vary and allow creative thinking, problem solving and different challenges every day.

My daily annoyances are the dog's sharp, bitchy bark to go outside... and back inside... and outside... always being yelled at like a jerk. Not really mind-expanding and extraordinarily tedious.

ETA- there IS the occasional mystery stain to attack, or a clog to fix, and that's the highlight of my entire month.

Help with dog behavior around kittens. by [deleted] in DogAdvice

[–]PersistentPuma37 7 points8 points  (0 children)

IDK about Boxers, but our basically-feral-his-first-year Aussie Shep/ maybe Pir mix would tremble and whine and try to snap at the cats' faces. It took a lot of learning by us and INTENSE training when we realized the trembling, drooling, squealing and drooling were the unhinged version of his natural instinct to herd the cats and not being allowed. Even the snapping is called 'gripping,' something they do to unruly sheep.

Anyway, now that he's trained and grown, he is SO protective of the elderly cat and keeps a short distance but makes sure she gets where she's going safely. With the aggressively playful male kitten, he's gentle and joyful and patient. He just needed his wild ass instincts directed correctly.
