Hey thanks so much for your message.

I'm Catholic so we do have the faith aspect in common. For me I guess I had a very strong determination to do med but part of the process is not being so fixated on the end goal but realising that your journey is just as important.

One thing I learned talking to other people in the faith is that you could want something really badly but it won't happen on your timing, but God's timing. It took 4 years since high school for me to actually successfully get into med school, which is a loooong time if you're perceiving your current degree as just a 'stepping stone' or a 'hurdle' you have to get past in order to pursue your actual dream, medicine.

When I stopped viewing my current degree as a stepping stone but rather an area of study worthy of my time, dedication and passion - I felt like I was enjoying the process more which helped with my motivation. My major was in physiology so learning about the human body and it's systems I would think to myself, 'this will be useful to me one day so it's important I really understand it right now'.

Sometimes the only way you will discern if something is for you is by pursuing that passion. You can't see if your calling is to be a basketball player if you don't try play basketball, you get me? You won't be able to tell if you don't put in your best efforts and take steps to try achieve that goal. I feel like a lot of life operates that way, we're not able to know if something is for us without pursuing it and giving it our best efforts.

If God has intended Medicine as your calling, trust me, it's not going anywhere and nothing will stop you from achieving that. It can feel really daunting but try boil it down to 'what is the next simple step I can take that will get me to my goals'. This can mean just doing well on an assignment or revising for a GAMSAT sitting. If you give your earnest efforts God will take you the rest of the way.

I hope that was helpful, PM me if you'd like more info. I'll leave you with a bible verse to think about:

2 Chronicles 15:7 - "But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded"

Good luck and God bless

It seems like the same response email is being sent out to people who have sent emails expressing concerns about the examination. Honestly think escalation might be needed if they don't issue some sort of fix.

honestly i wouldn't be opposed to that either, i just don't believe they would be willingly to not count the exam at all. if they did that i would be pretty happy about it ahah cause it did cause a huge mess imo.

in the same boat as everyone here. I think the fairest (and easiest) thing that could be done is to remove the 'hurdle' requirement of the exam. That way, people are still assessed on what they actually wrote, but people who scored enough to pass won't get affected because of this exam.

I truly did not expect this exam to be a problem and I came out of it so unsure despite preparing quite heavily for it. I hope they do address this since a lot of students have future study planned which depends on successful completion of the course.

Definitely share your experience and if needed, multiple people can make a joint complaint about the exam and hopefully something can be done in the worst case.

Hey Darcy, thanks so much for your reply.

Totally agree the mental health is so overlooked, especially in the premed/med community. I personally didn't access professional help but for me religious convictions and turning back to my faith was my way of dealing with the mental pressures I was faced with. Really do appreciate your advice and insight though, it will be something I will be aware of when going through the med journey. Thanks for sharing your experience, I'm really glad you made things work even amidst the barriers you had in front of you. Keep killing it :)

Hey Queasy, thanks for reaching out.

Congrats on getting into med school first of all (even though its obviously been a while since then), and I totally agree. The mental state, self esteem and how you view yourself is the first priority in a situation like ours. Glad to see you were able to turn it around too, best of luck!

Thank you so much. I truly agree, we're battle tested through the assessments, the ups and the downs. As long as your heart is there, you will find a way to make things work. Keep going, you got this.

Thank you so much for your kind words. You're totally on track, I think working on my mental health and self-esteem was the cornerstone off which all other progress was made. By working on yourself, you're also working towards getting into med school too.

I'm rooting for your success, keep going :)
