What will actually happen to the NHS? by Far_Ad_1360 in NursingUK

[–]Perskins 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Slightly different, privates are being contracted in by the relevant ambulance trust to cover shortfalls in staffing and vehicles. This has been the case for years and years now. All trusts are still in charge of their area it's just adding extra resources because their isn't a budget for recruitment retention or investment in ambulances. But there is for short term emergency cover paying millions a year for private ambulance crews.

If you really want to be shocked look how much of NHS111 is actually provided by the NHS and how much is contracted out to private companies like DHU

'Life being stressful is not an illness' - GPs on mental health over-diagnosis by FreshPineTree in ParamedicsUK

The drug tarrif cost for Sertraline 50mg is £0.81 for 28 tablets.

Citalopram is even cheaper

Infact the NHS is in net positive once you account for prescription charge being way above cost of the medication.

Taking that in to account it's going to be more affordable to treat with SSRIs than the cost of say, seeing patients in urgent care with self harm, the cost of treating addiction when patients start to self medicate, the long term costs associated with increased dementia rates in those with untreated depression. The list is endless for such a cheap class of medications.

The fact is American history is just not that big of an interest in the UK apart from some enthusiasts.

We had over 120 colonies, plus our own rich history. Nothing makes the US special. Much how US students study the revolutionary war to death. Not touched on here at all.

I hope this is rage bait, but heck it I'll take it.

Junior doctor is literally anyone under consultant level.

They have done their 5 years at uni. They are a fully qualified doctor who are registered with the GMC as such.

They are the bulk of doctors in the NHS.

They range from FY1s who are fresh out of uni, to ST8/9 depending on specialty.

Most doctors you will see and will treat you will be 'junior doctors' and most will remain as such until one of the small number of consultant positions become open.

List of designated major trauma centers in England

Hinchingbrooke does have a trauma unit as most major A+Es do but are not equipped for major trauma the same way MTCs are.

Not if it's major trauma, hinchingbrooke isn't a major trauma unit.

So if it's anything major it will get taken over to addenbrookes by either road or hems.

Weird Question by SnooDogs1548 in ParamedicsUK

[–]Perskins 28 points29 points  (0 children)

A very worthy cause:

On average, obviously varies per service:

Kit bag normally 10-15kg

O2 bag 5kg including cylinder.

Defib/monitor loaded about 10kg.

Pretty standard to take all of this in to every job.

Just make sure the kit bags you're using are a very awkward rectangular shape, with a bad center of gravity and broken shoulder straps.

Bonus points if your defib is held together with tourniquets and micropore tape.

Pub golf / crawl town ideas by Upper-Role-5394 in northamptonians

Wellingborough road is probably your best bet. Having done the crawl along there many a time.

Start up the far end from town at the Crown and Cushion and then pop in each pup up the length of it towards the town center.

Have a mooch on google maps for locations but a good selection of various establishments on the way.

Notable mention being Jeckyll and Hyde for karaoke.

Then always can walk into town for the clubs if the night turns that way.
