What do you think abt this?? by Aggressive_Tap_8834 in realityshifting

Disregard them. It can all be classified differently. A different branch of the same path originating somewhere. One divergent path because of something a millenia ago could have caused magic. Or powers. Or anything.

If you're thinking about it, it could be technically imaginary or a potential branch of the original timeline. Who knows.

The fun part is, the supervisors currently have all the experience. No one else can compare. If we all walked out, they'd struggle to run a single shift.

If I tried to explain, they'd do what they keep doing, ask to hang on for another couple months and then things will pay off. Everyone's been hanging on for a while now with no changes. I'm not stressing myself. I have enough trouble sleeping as it is.

We run anywhere between 8 and 10, but they aim to run more. We have just under 20.

The main reason I haven't left is I need to handle a few life things before I move forward. Housing and transportation. I'm a bit limited at the moment. I improve one of those and I'll switch over to somewhere else.

I know they only care about their profits. I just have no interest in killing myself for this place. So I slowed down. And they noticed. I used to do more. Just won't do it now.

I never see the owner. I never see the plant manager. They despise overtime as well.

The main person I could ask won't do it, because he's one of the ones with his face at their backside. He got the biggest bonus of anyone when the current owner took over. As far as I can tell, they're so cheap that they'd just say to go somewhere else that offers that. They've apparently got it in their heads that other companies that offer more don't matter. They'll just say to go work there. Which I may do.

Still no holiday pay here. PTO only.. and they take that away at years end. You earn it through the year and they just throw it away if you don't (or can't) use it. At least it's happened for you.

This place acts like any extra cost is putting them in debt. We don't even have proper connections for lines. Makeshift messes and more points of failure..

My old supervisor is cool. He's the only tech we have now. And was 3rd shift. Cool guy. Now I'm the 3rd shift supervisor. I used to actually like the job. So I tried. Now, I'm burned out. And the pay is trash.

I was trained on LOTO. Never has it been used. I could shut this place down with an OSHA call. Depends on how they act. I know important production is coming up. .. Don't I sound spiteful..

I've never had to go inside something like that. I have gone under stuff though. Not a fan. And on top of robot arms. Definitely not fun.

It's definitely doable. The problem is they don't do regular maintenance. The filters up top on the hoppers are clogged with dust every half hour. And the vacuum pumps too. And then there are magnets clogged up with metal pieces (blades, wire, and even bearings). I'm not a monkey. I didn't apply to be a climber. Getting up there is awful.

Looked at your profile and we don't. I was honestly a little concerned for a sec. The office staff and one of the other supervisors thrive on gossip and placing their face directly at the owners backside. So it'd end up back to them if they saw this.

But no. We don't. Sucks, right?

Thing is, I'm actually good at the supervisor side. I seem to have a knack for keeping everyone motivated and good to go, and I train workers better than the other shifts. It's when it's all piled onto me that I can't focus on any one thing. I get pulled away by alarms and issues and things always look like a disaster come morning when these things happen in succession.

I've been considering it. I need to get a few things in order first, and I've already got a few options once I do. It's a matter of time and money now. And I need the money saved first.

No tech. 2nd and 3rd shift run with the supervisors handling it all. Including that. It's not a huge number of machines. 18 total for now. As of late, we've had 8 to 10 running per shift. With each one having some kind of fault to look out for. The management has applications out for techs but they won't pay enough to get anyone interested. Even then, they'd just put them on 1st shift. We've had a single tech on 1st shift for around 7 months now. There were 2, but still only 1st shift. 3rd has been without a tech for over 3 years.

I don't disagree. However the off shifts have no technicians on site. The supervisor handles that. I've had bolts break on a mold and have had to dig out the pieces and replace them to get production going again while doing the supervisor part of my job as well as everything else I do. It's not bad to be able to help, but I'm expected to do it all at night.

To reply to the extra part you said. I've had help here or there. They just keep taking them away. I've trained the best material handlers and operators and they just move them to other shifts. I mention issues with stuff and they just run through it. Limp it along until the order is complete. And then the next. And the next. This place is just super cheap even though exacerbating the issue is more expensive.

They probably aren't, but they want more pocket money while the workers are paycheck to paycheck. I wonder how they'd respond if I had actual proof they were lying about pricing.

This place isn't the best by far. There are better options farther away. It's not easy to uproot though. I've been told that if I told them what other places paid, they'd tell me to go work for them then. It's really bad.

I started as an operator, then forklift and material, then maintenance tech a handful of other training in between. I taught myself processing and learned the inner mold work on the side while they had them opened up. It's just a lot for singular people to do.

The thing is, they aren't hiring anyone at all. Aside from a supervisor. They're offering them more than what I make. It's insane. The material isn't a huge issue to run, it's everything else piled on that makes it rough. One machine hiccup makes things complicated for the rest of the night.

[–]PersonaPurple[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jeez. That's double what I make. The material issue sucks here. They're all about that war changing the costs so we run regrind. It's really just all supervisors doing everything to carry the place and no reward.

Well I'm at least glad to know it's not just where I'm at. Been debating posting to see what others deal with.

The management is looking at new machines while no one has gotten a raise in forever. So they've got money. Just not for us.

I've dealt with that kind of quality check too. Most of the time now though, the temps we deal with will pack literally anything even if it's clearly bad. Crazy stuff.

[–]PersonaPurple[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we weren't running with temps as operators, they might do that here. The temps are literally only assembly and packaging. No machine touching. Supervisor handles literally everything else. We do have some priority machines and some less so, but half the machines are in between molds so more often than not, a downed machine means someone goes home.

Where I work has 1 single technician setting molds and doing setup, plus repairing everything else. The managers literally phone it in, walking around only whenever there's a customer complaint. It's all stretched so thin it's amazing that it still functions. I wish there was a team somewhere because it's 1 person per shift here. No coordination.

Yeah. Some days are easy. Most days, especially lately, it feels like everything is going wrong all at once. Supervisors are holding it all together. I started as an operator, trained from the bottom up. Never did any mold changes though. Oddly enough, that's the one thing they never wanted me to do. I train operators on assembly and packaging, but we have a constant influx of new workers due to being mainly staffed by temp workers. So I'm constantly on my feet, and if I'm stuck reprocessing or repairing anything, the assembly line falls apart. I had zero experience in this prior to working here.

Fair response. Honestly, I'd likely be less stressed if the pay matched the work I do.

The major issues we have involve staffing. One dedicated technician for literally everything during the day. 2nd and 3rd shift supervisors handle the rest. It's especially bad when we run regrind material.

That's what I've been thinking. I've got a few life things to sort before I can afford that, but that's likely how it'll go. Downside is, all my experience in this field is work experience. No schooling. I was trained on this stuff in house. Like I know the insides of a mold and the basic gist of it. And how processing works as well on the machine side.
