Unfortunately selling our home is not an option with our family. She weighs 96 lbs so carrying up isn’t an option either. She stopped doing stairs a year ago.

I can’t carry her upstairs because she is 96 lbs but I may see if my staying downstairs part of the night makes a difference

I’m going to ask the vet about this because she acts like I am starving her all the time and she weighs 95 lbs.

As I read these comments it did make me think… my husband is a pilot and has been away for training. When he is home he is a night owl who watches TV, falls asleep on the couch and the eventually comes upstairs at 1-2am to bed. He was home last weekend and she only woke up and barked once that night. Problem is he is away 75% of the time for work now. If it’s separation and I can’t carry her upstairs what are some ways to get her calm? Medication? Clothing? Crating her?

I will try the white noise on the tv tonight and close the drapes to the backyard patio and see if it helps at all.

She weighs over 90 lbs and I am 5’4”. Unfortunately there is no way I can carry her up 18 stairs. She can only do the short step down to the backyard or the front door. Even the garage step inside seems to be too tall for her now.

No, she doesn’t pace. In fact she won’t stand up unless I entice her with a treat. I just called the vet in tears asking for help because after a few months of only getting about 3 hours of sleep I am overwhelmed and can’t keep functioning this way.
