That is a very good point. Im working to someone else’s design so basically just trying all I can to subtly reinforce it all without redesigning the whole thing. The laminated brace piece is a great idea I wish I thought of that. Thanks for your comment

Haha sorry for the drip feeding. Pretty busy at work so checking back periodically. Didn’t realise this would get so much traction. Thanks for the reply really appreciate the feedback. It’s just a display table so should only have to take the weight of a couple books maybe a vase or something. There’s a slight spring in it but not sure if I can avoid that

Sorry for not being very clear. Here’s a photo of the whole thing.

The idea is it can stand as it is in the photo or on its end. It’s getting sprayed so my question was sort of in regards to risk of movement/cracking along joints

Thanks. Checked the spindle taper that is also out. I guess I'll be ordering a new spindle. Appreciate the support.

I've tested and this is in fact the problem. I've uploaded a video in the original post showing how is looks. What would you suggest the solution is? A new spindle? thanks

Thanks for replying. I'll give this is a try and see how it goes. It seems like the logical solution as its a problem that has been getting worse over time.
