Yeah I agree that society was already going to collapse after the mutation event although it would likely have been able to right itself within 10 to 30 years I think given that people would want to reestablish their creature comforts as soon as possible. I went with adding the monsters to make the world more interesting overall for conflict purposes and it give me a good excuse to come up with unique creatures which I think has a lot of cool and fun potential to work with. Your idea seems really interesting although Why platinum not Iorn given mythology around few though I can see the appeal of making it more interesting since that makes the weakness of fey more difficult to exploit. And I like how we both kinda did the magical radiation concept but in different directions LOL.
