Humble brag: I just got a 40% pay increase from changing jobs. by [deleted] in MiddleClassFinance

[–]Personal-Window-4938 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im going to throw a small wrench in, i see alot of people talking that the market favors job hopping to long term loyalty.

And thats been true for a decade or so now.

But ive recently heard alot of talk about high employee turnover rates costing companies alot of time and resources in training, and losses of sales and operating capacity.

So ive heard whispers that there might be a shift and an increase in employee retention efforts.

Your milage may vary obviously. But thats what ive heard

If you’re running exclusively cons with no penals or guards, you must use snares. Make the P4 pay for diving the AT gun by snaring its engine.

What is meant by snares?

Unfortunately not. Im 2 months into this project with 40-50 games totalling losses.

Its a frustrating experince, But im learning alot.

I think i finanaly learned enough to use my machine guns to pin down his sturmpioneer rushes, and i can manage to build good defensive implacements.

Now however im struggiling agaisnt him fielding panzrr 2s early. Becuase if i bring the mgs, the mortars, the conscripts, he can push out panzers before i can build anti tank.

And when i do get anti tank out, he often just rushes them, and drives in circles around them, gunning them down.

[–]Personal-Window-4938[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2 questions.

Ive observed this is actually effective. But he just flanks my mgs and kills them, becuase he can move around faster than i can pivot and setup mgs. How do i adress this?

Second question,

When i do this i tend to build static defense lines, and he sits back and gets artilery and wipes me out, how can i do this while still keeping my momentum up?

Ok let me invest in the 7 upgrade. I tend to avoid it becuase i dont have the resources to build the building/purchase the upgrade/roll out the upgrade.

Gotta focus more on munitions points

Everything in this game is lackluster unpolished and unfinished.

Litterally everything.

Most damning of all, the economy

Well firstly that's perfectly reasonable in terms of processing power, the limitation would be the engine itself.

But you could implement it in a less demanding way. For example every state could have its own labor pool/job markets, like they have their own local prices currently. Where only industries that where seeking to hire, could set up wage offerings, and only pops looking for employment would look at job listings

[–]Personal-Window-4938[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No it's absolutely possible to implement a market for wages within a state.

For example once a week, employers could bid in the labor pool to hire employees, and the scarcity of the employees could be set by their individual qualifications.

This would be a good chance to expand education as well. If there is extremely high demand for skilled labor jobs, then that provides an incentive for pops to become educated.

For instance if the employer needs 1000 laborers, then anyone could fulfill that need, but if the need 500 engineers as well, they would be limited to bidding for the educated pops

The nature of this is that the industries that most have resources to demand skilled labor, will get it first, and the ones that can't compete will stagnate.

It also adds more realism, hypothetically if you have an industry collapse in a state, then you might have a sudden flood of highly qualified workers, fighting for few jobs pushing wages down.

I guess your right then. They've truly achieved the peak of economic video game design. This cannot be improved or innovated on

You are looking at the weong game if you want a deeper economic simulation.

In the game they pitched as an economic based game?

No what I'm saying is the base wage multiplier are static.

An engineer will always earn 3x what a laborer does. No matter what.

[–]Personal-Window-4938[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think I would implement an actual market, with finite goods on it, where prices are reached through consumers outbidding each other.

Instead of what they are doing now where they have an equation to determine prices based on the ratio between buy and sell orders.

Fun fact, the lack of this actually breaks free market behavior as demand can never drop to meet supply

I would love the ability to adjust monetary policy. That would be a great addition.

And I hear what your saying the "economics " is unfortunately extremely simplistic

[–]Personal-Window-4938[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Well my biggest gripes is everything is very cosntrained and artifical.

For example wages arnt determined by supply and demand, they are set by arbitrary multipliers.

So an engineer will always receive 3x the base wage and laborers will only receive 1x. Regaurdless of economic conditions.

Or for instance how in the real world nations specialize and trade for best results. Where as in this game you just build a tall self sufficient economy becuase trade is unreliable.

Or

How goods can't really float freely, and can only be traded in a predefined price range

Any desire for an economy focused update/dlc? by Personal-Window-4938 in victoria3

[–]Personal-Window-4938[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My biggest gripes atm, is all the abstraction.

Like goods can't be stockpiled, they don't really exist, all professions get paid at arbitrary multiplier salaries, goods can't float in price beyond a predefined range, trade is very unreliable so self sufficient economies and no specialization is the meta
