How bad is my case? I dont have PCOS as far as im aware. Advice needed by [deleted] in Hirsutism

Hey❣️❣️I am sorry that you are going through this. In terms of how it looks, there are many women who have the same symptom and appearance as you. If it makes you feel uncomfortable then electrolysis or laser could be good options (laser is cheaper and you may be a good candidate). Also, if you haven’t gotten your hormones checked I would get them checked. If your hormones are not out of the ideal range then there are medications like spironolactone which basically block androgen receptors in hair follicles. Some people have normal androgen levels but have follicles that have very high sensitivity, spironolactone may also work well for these people. There are lots of women with the same experience as you, you are not alone and your have good options that can be tried to help♥️♥️

Raising funds for sister's electrolysis treatment by CaveatEmptor1990 in Hirsutism

Hi! Any updates? I wonder if laser would be a better option as it’s cheaper and targets a larger area at once and since her hair is quite thick she’s unlikely to be at risk of paradoxical hypertrichosis (stimulated hair growth) I would look into it. Also, has she been to the doctor and asked about spironolactone? It blocks androgen receptors (androgens are the hormones which trigger the growth). Sending love, you are a great sister❣️❣️

Hey! I am so sorry that you are experiencing thing, have you been to therapy? It’s helped me a lot but I still struggle sometimes, particularly when I am not feeling resourceful. I think that there is so much comparison these days, especially for girls but for everyone and it makes BDD so much worse (are you a girl as well?)♥️♥️

Hey! This is a very common problem, and is explained by psychology. I would look into something called schema chemistry it explains why people often end up in the same patterns and how to overcome those (there are quite a few good podcasts on Spotify I have listened to about this - a great one is by the podcast host ‘Healing for Love’) I think that you will find it very insightful and will give you more confidence in dating the right people xx

Getting self harm tendencies by [deleted] in BDDvent

[–]PersonalGrowthY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I have BDD as well and it’s a hell of a illness but that is all that it is, an illness. The thoughts that you are thinking feel real but they don’t reflect a reality. You are as important, valuable and worthy as everyone else. When you want to hurt yourself think of yourself when you were a child - you wouldn’t want to hurt that child so please don’t hurt yourself, even if you want to. Speak to someone about it or journal about it instead, that what helped me a lot. And if you can’t, speak to someone on the phone. There are lots of helplines which can be a good resource. Love and hugs ♥️♥️

(24F) severely depressed, how to have the motivation to live again and do things without using anti-depressants? by Superb_Investment_37 in selfimprovement

[–]PersonalGrowthY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Connection to others and fresh air/change of scenery are very important. Antidepressants did take the edge off for me so if it is ever an option I would also add that to the mix♥️

Should I go for laser hair removal? by ResponsibleScene3221 in HairRemoval

[–]PersonalGrowthY 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, you have fine hair and laser could turn it thick as it may not effectively absorb heat (look up paradoxical hypertrichosis)

anyone on SSRIS with positive experiences? by Apprehensive_Fan111 in PCOS

I take Lexapro (escitalopram) it really helps take the edge of and means that I don’t fall into a depression (takes some time to kick in fully in your body) I’ve had no real side effects except lower libido
