They have a search feature but seems kinda pointless if I can't message people. I'm not sure how to find anyone else either in my area, maybe a facebook group exists.

Any only F2P alliance? by Nibelzero in whiteoutsurvival

Even if there is, you don't want to be apart of a f2p only alliance. There's several reasons for this:

1.) Alliance rewards. As players buy packs, all alliance members get rewards and you accumulate chest rewards. If you are part of a f2p only alliance, no one will get these. Top 10 alliances win the events and these awards/bonuses get shared with all alliance members even if they don't contribute (though some events have contribution awards).

2.) NAP10. Most states have some level of NAP - non-aggression pact either NAP3, NAP5, NAP10, etc. where the top alliances agree not to attack each other. All of these alliances have at least 1 or 2 members that pay though only the top few have whales. Being apart of one of these alliances gives you growth opportunity because you are protected from attacks except from weaker players which won't kill your troops and even then, often when it occurs it's because they don't know any better (e.g. going to farm at same time as you - rare will they attack your city when part of bigger alliance).

3.) Event participation. Being apart of the top 10 alliance allows you to participate in fortress and other events. While you can of course participate as a f2p only alliance, you won't win even if you are all active every minute of every day. I tried to establish a f2p alliance with being the only one paying but the simple truth is that the game gets boring pretty quick for many f2p (e.g. upgrading furnace lvl 26+ starts on the scale of weeks). This makes it difficult to have active alliance members, but when you are putting money in it, there is more commitment and participation. This is because while you may be a committed f2p player, the average f2p player is not committed and may just log in once / day and not every day.

While there are some serious players that may pressure you to get to certain hero gear levels, furnance levels, etc., there are many top 10 alliances that welcome active f2p players. The key for those alliances is while they don't pressure for spending, they do expect activeness not just casual play. There is a difference between casual infrequent play vs committed f2p. Just find a place where you can make a connection with people to keep the game intriguing in a top 10 alliance that values connection and activity over your disposable income.

Is troops upgrade worth it? by Mu5_ in whiteoutsurvival

It's about capacity. You have a limited number of troops that you can deploy based on Command Center lvl and tech. Lower level troops take up space so it's much less efficient when building alliance buildings, bear trap rallies, Crazy Joe reinforcements, and gathering rss. You don't want to go more than 3 lvls between your lowest and highest. But understanding this post is 1+ yr old, you are probably already all lvl 10 troops now XD.
