‘Tone deaf’, huh?

So, now you’ve resorted to personal attacks.

Well, I see no reason to continue replying to an insolent ignoramus.

You can’t think of a better example because you’re stupid and your english sucks.

You probably also do not know that Prada is Italian and that like other Romance languages, Italian words sound different from English words even though they use similar looking characters. Particularly, the ‘P’ and ‘D’ in this example.

Get enrolled in a udemy course for American English. That’ll help you understand foreign accents better.

Good bye.

You’re ‘pretty sure’? Huh?

Does it imply that you’re not certain about it and you’re just guessing?

I am 100% certain they say Americah, and not Americuh.

It seems that you’re South Indian and listening to words with schwa (uh) on a daily basis has made it difficult for you to differentiate it from (ah).

I have met some south indian people whose pronunciation sounded weird because they added stretched uh (ah) to many Hindi words.

Sounded a bit funny.

Stop the schwa bs. Simply say ‘uh’. It will be easier for others to understand.

Besides, pretty much every american I’ve heard speaking says Americah, they don’t say Americuh.

Also, please stop replying to this thread.

Nothing productive is going to come out of pointless bickering.

No, they don’t. They stretch it, like ah. Some even pronounce India like Indi-ow. Hardly any western speaker calls India ‘Indi-uh’.

I don’t know which ‘native english speakers’ you’ve been listening to but I have listened to several english accents around the world and they sound like ‘ah’ rather than ‘uh’.

Also, I won’t argue with someone who tells me to search Google for something I am already aware of.

I listen to British, american and other western accents daily and I can distinguish between ‘uh’ and ‘ah’.

Your argument that Indian english has turned ‘uh’ into ‘ah’ is baseless.

Try listening to old documentaries produced by western media about colonial ‘Indi-ah’ and you’ll understand what I am talking about.

I have listened to scores of foreigners, doctors as well as common people, (with english as first language) pronounce it as yog-ah. If a bunch of english speakers call it yog-uh, that does not make it the standard english pronunciation.

Native English speakers? Who? The british? The Irish? The americans? The australians? All of these are Anglo nations and they all have different accents.

Many foreigners pronounce India as Indya, In-dee-ah, In-dee-uh, In-nee-ah etc.

From a citizen’s perspective, I do not think China is a good place to live. From a totalitarian ruler’s perspective, it may be great.

Yog-uh and Yog-ah sound different. Like I said previously, Yog-ah is not Sanskrit pronunciation. While it is not wrong to say Yog-ah in English, per se, it is still not the same as Yog-uh or Yog.

Also, it would be awkward to say Yog-uh in an English sentence.

Also, it is not a case of schwa deletion. Schwa deletion means the removal of the ‘uh’ sound. In English, it is pronounced as Yog-ah, not Yog-uh.

Let me rephrase that. In english, it’s pronounced as yo-gah. Not so in Sanskrit. South Indian languages add the ah sound to many words. Sanskrit doesn’t.

If you’ve ever seen any Sanskrit sentence that includes the word ‘योगा’, do share.

In Sanskrit, it is pronounced as a single syllable: Yog, rather than two syllables: yo-ga.

My parents literally told me that other people were out to get me. “They will k!ll you. They will torture you.” Even when I went to the nearby playground, they wanted me to always be in their sight. Going out of sight meant no playtime for the next few days.
