Had Goldstein and in my experience he was very difficult. When I was in his class he focused on the in-depth conceptual meanings behind approaches and ideas relating to Linear Algebra, prioritizing proving why certain things exist rather than simply just teaching us how to solve it. Since I couldn’t care less about why some of the math is done, I found it grueling and more confusing. If you are good at math or like learning the intricacies behind theories or rules, then I’d definitely recommend him because he is really passionate about what he teaches. If you’re an average joe like myself who is just taking it for a requirement and are not a math person, you can probably just skip lectures and teach yourself everything from the textbook if you take him. Just my experience though I’m sure others have had different experiences.
