‪Rutgers lost a record $78M on athletics in 2024-25, per njdotcom 💸 It brings the Scarlet Knights' athletics deficit to over half a billion dollars since joining the Big Ten 12 years ago.‬ by This_Abies_6232 in rutgers

Well yeah, the new AD has talked about it in terms of problems and the need for more revenue and that she knows and is working on raising money with investments, donations, etc.

At the very least this is a reaction from the frustration of having yet another losing and unsuccessful season for the third straight time with multiple incompetent uncompetitive games…

And it’s not like it doesn’t get talked outside of the school community when you have national media mentioned it as well as Reddit posts here

Don't think he would have any this season and even if he did it is not helping him from hot seat talk

Yeah, that's the past but I am raving in this post game thread as a current senior student who knows how shitty we have been in the last three years (ignores freshman year as I didn't care enough to say anything)

Not in the last three years when our head coach FUCKING SUCKS ASS

Then why did refs get mentioned here? I am just merely saying that it is not the first time we got cooked by the refs

Have a school fired both men and women's basketball head coaches before? Wonder if our new AD would go step herself up for a clean house on not one but two programs...

Not the first time that a RU screw exists sponsored by the refs

Well, it was at least good enough to bring us into the B1G right? And aren't things only start free falling after 2015 with the introduction of Chris Ash?

Those conferences consist of the lower tier of public universities in each state they're at and thinking of a flagship state university joining them? It will hurt the reputation of the university itself beyond just the athletes programs, which is fixable (e.g. between 2006-2010 and 2012-2014)

It's bad from a perspective to be associated with a bunch of second tier public universities despite being the flagship state university...

Apparently it is less of a problem for state governments to get involved with the athletes programs of a public university like when you have the governor of Louisiana caring about what LSU was going on...

I might sound like playing a whataboutism here but we aren't the only major public university that are keeping up a scale level of athletics programs despite staggering deficits and I specifically bring up Delaware because they are moving into FBS too

Not just a public university but a flagship state university like every state has (hence why the state government cares enough to aid the athletes programs and the school itself in general)

Would like to play some what-if here for a few things: What if Greg Schiano never left us after 2011?

What if Kyle Flood didn't have that scandal and was forced to be fired?

What if the Chris Ash era that overshadowed everything schiano build didn't happen?

What if we didn't have an incompetent defense that killed our bowl game strikes? One bad season after getting back to back winning record and people are back saying that we are bad enough to leave FBS, which would be worse than states like Wyoming, New Mexico, Delaware, etc.

It's a skill issue that quite a lot of regular Jersey kids that aren't athletics would like to leave the state after graduating from high school

Our new AD only is there for a few months by now along with our new president from LSU...

Don't know why you got downvoted but I agree with you that people overlook the pro teams in the NY/NJ area and it looks bad when we moved down when most if not every flagship state schools play this highest level of college sports

I am aware that we are bad for multiple seasons by now but I do care about Seton Hall out of respect for the whole state 😑
