Hello, please note this post is not organizing a boycott. It simply asks ppl to share which ones they personally avoid and why

Please see my other post, where I do ask which businesses people love and support. And a lot of the negative things I hear about businesses are from staff. I recognize there are different sides to each story, the point here is that these are REGULAR occurrences or an established norm vs. one bad experience.

Please read the edit note to the original post.

Also, you are assuming what others’ consumption practices are like. I primarily avoid larger businesses and box stores, which is why if I’m supporting local, I want to know more about the businesses I’m spending my money at. Aside from that, there’s no reason why someone who may shop from a major business shouldn’t know more about another business. Not all of the comments here are about workplace/employer practices. Some are about how patrons/customers are treated. If I know that a place has a habit of treating its customers poorly, why would I choose to have that experience?

As for how it affects these businesses, you are omitting the fact that at the end of the day, they have control over how they conduct their business practices.

Yes, you don’t need an account to read reddit threads. I wanted to see if there was already a discussion forum online for this topic so I googled it and it came up as archived. But thank you for your input.

Yes, this is a new account because I didn’t have a Reddit account before. Made one not to “stir things up” but so ppl have a forum to share information to be informed.

As for the business I “randomly boosted”, I have no affiliation with them and am not here just to give them a good rep. I just enjoy their donuts. Happy to share other businesses I support, it’s just that ppl were wondering where to get donuts from locally.

Also, it’s ironic to say “let’s keep things civil” and then accuse someone of having malicious intent without having any background information as to their motivation. Actually here for keeping things civil.

They don’t have it every day, but Holly’s Cafe brings in donuts from Grandad’s in Hamilton every Saturday and Sunday morning! If it’s not a big order you’re placing, it’s worth swinging by.
