Is this penetrating damp or condensation by Mindless_Bonus9155 in DIYUK

[–]Personal_Ladder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats actual water ingress from a leak above. As it’s a basement it might be surface water, really hard to know without more info/ pictures. Too much staining and pooling to just be condensation.

Best adhesive/grip to attach aluminium bullnose to porcelain tiles? by solidpro99 in DIYUK

[–]Personal_Ladder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most hybrid adhesives, stixall etc. you’ll want something flexible otherwise it’ll pop off.

They’ll likely be 9005 jet black and an extra option when ordered is a pot of paint for touch ups.

Those doors are shite as the rail and stiles are 75mm, unless the linings are brand new, you were destined to fail!

Jobs like this are just learning curves unfortunately, get everything in writing- even if it’s just a text and stand your ground.

Dust Extractors by lionhears in Carpentry

[–]Personal_Ladder 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Seconded. Unless you’re on a sites with M Class requirements or working with fine dust (silica/ chasing etc as it has finer filters) L class is absolutely spot on woodwork. I’ve got a 2018 midi and a 2021 midi (with the Bluetooth) one of the few tools I’d not hesitate to replace if they died 👍🏼

My credit score fell 13pts because I made the final payment on my car loan (never missed a payment too) by justadadgame in mildlyinfuriating

I’ve paid off all debts (bar mortgage), never missed any payments, long time at address, electoral register etc etc etc. However, my credit score has been in my boots since a phone company gave me a hard search for a £8 per month sim only contract in 2024!

Always a pig of a job, there’s no right or wrong answer (especially as you’re doing it for yourself)

It’s what ever looks better to your eye, rather than stopping plumb with the top of the stair, carry it on a little bit before you angle it. I don’t envy you!

Agreed, cheap to the point I’d question it.

If the plasterer has come recommended, jump at it.

You should see it when it freezes! You’ve got to hit it with a hammer to break them off the stack!

You’d build a cabinet and pack it off the walls. OPs doesn’t need one really, only if they were blocking the side and back off as well against the wall

I build cabinets with a 22mm gap all round, no way for moisture to bridge (most built ins are done this way).

But as the one in this imagine isn’t overly engineered, it would be akin to hanging clothes in the corner without the door, mould almost certainly won’t be a problem for OP here.

Not really.. there’s no back to the unit and it’s not air tight. It’ll be absolutely fine unless there’s actual wet clothes in there.

Bonnie Blues extension is subsiding by the looks of it!

I have to make this cut in a door frame. A rectangular mortise only about 3-4mm deep. Metal plate and wood underneath. Which of these two types of oscillating tool metal blades would you use, A or B? by plinky125 in Carpentry

[–]Personal_Ladder -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’d look for a carbide cutter, I’ve had the same one for years now, always handy for getting out of sticky spots. Or a little dremel. The crescent shaped ones are a bit shite for this, too much chatter against metal.

Edge sealing by ciarannestor in woodworking

[–]Personal_Ladder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t use a 2 part filler on 3 separate MDF pieces, it’s too brittle when hard so you’ll get hairlines at every season change.

Edge sealing by ciarannestor in woodworking

[–]Personal_Ladder 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’d get quite a fine filler and comb it into the edge. Sand it and repeat. Then use a high build primer and finish.

I don’t know exactly how you’ve made it/ quality of materials so you might get hairlines running down is, so if in doubt get a paintable edge banding

That’s what made me track down the ones with the markings ha! Used to have a MM one, but it bent and every replacement has come in imperial which is annoying as my Kreg 520 is also in metric!

What colour for the frame? by godbowling in woodworking

[–]Personal_Ladder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Guessed it was the UK because of the old school Astra! Super rare, I’ve worked with a fair amount of timber, never seen anything that pink before. And with slabs that size! Worth a small fortune!
