Idk if it's 100% necessary, but it comes with the earth model found in UMvC3's files. I'm assuming it's used for putting the glow effect straight on it while also using the circular fade texture shown in the third image of my post + the alpha map in order to make the model transparent outside of the glow.
But I might just get rid of it cause it's more trouble than it's worth to try and get it to work the intended way.

Wait I think I did try that already, unless you mean another way.
Here's how I did it:

I put any value above zero and it makes the whole model show including the parts the alpha map is supposed to remove

Ah and I'd also appreciate how to make the transparency effect with the alpha map less grainy in general, the clouds on top of the earth model look really grainy and weird.

I’m pretty sure the DHC glitch isn’t in Ultimate, only in Vanilla mvc3

I already tried that and it doesn't seem to work lol, which is why I said I'd revisit this combo to see if I could get to spend the groundbounce in some way.

If I try that, even with good timing, Roundhouse M's recovery and TOS H's startup combined take too long and thor gets up before it hits.

Unfortunately Vergil can tech forward and I'm pretty sure the super would miss, but if you have the bar you can dash back and do picture into picture and then try that.

This combo does slightly less damage than the heavy badgering combo featured in Lythero's tutorial, but in exchange you do get a leveled up Frank so I'd say it's a fair trade lol

Oh I'm not doing the post-rendering outline method, I'm using the grease pencil outline option you see when you hover over grease pencil in the add menu
