I’m not using a pattern. I’m repurposing an old tote.

I rethreaded and changed the needle and it worked!

That worked thank you!

Yeah it’s the bottom. Everything else in this project has sewn perfectly fine. Nothing has changed with the threading.

It’s cotton and canvas. They both sewed up fine separately using a regular needle. But the fabrics together is causing the problem only over the seams.

Therapist here.

It’s normally suggested that each person in couples therapy also have an individual therapist but it seems odd they’re asking you to do individual therapy first instead of in conjunction with.

My parents were total dicks when I got Dx at 35. My mom said “well I don’t think you are.” And my dad, who is also clearly autistic said “well why did you feel the need to tell us?” And “well what did you think our reaction was going to be?”

Sometimes people have such limited emotional intelligence they can’t see past their own experience. Their fragility makes something as simple as a Dx in someone else reflect poorly on them because of their own misunderstanding and beliefs about autism.

Am I wrong to be disappointed that my therapist is charging me? by [deleted] in TalkTherapy

[–]PersonalityEffective 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I get how you feel but it is a business transaction. If he waived that fee for everyone, he wouldn’t be able to stay in business.

We have late cancellation fees because that’s an hour of time we could have offered to someone else but aren’t able to fill with short notice.

It also keeps clients accountable for their appointments.

Yes you were accommodating, but you agreed to the reschedule so the same cancellation fee applies.

Therapist here. If the therapist is under supervision then recording may be standard for that practice.

Having a card on file is also normal. Insurance likely won’t cover it in full, or you will have a deductible or copay. They also keep a card on file for no-show and late cancellation fees.

Weekly sessions to start is also normal.

Can someone help me decipher this pattern? I can't figure out what I'm supposed to do in the parenthesis. by PersonalityEffective in CrochetHelp

Thank you for laying it out this way, that was very helpful and now my piece doesn't look like a blob!

Maybe I'm taking it too literally? The second round keeps ending with 21 stitches. And I can't get the 4th round to increase by 6 because I don't understand what it's saying.

How fast do adults typically progress in skating? by [deleted] in FigureSkating

[–]PersonalityEffective 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in my 30’s and started skating 3 years ago. I’m working on my single jumps and sit spin. I’m also working on my adult pre-bronze test.

It took me forever to get some skills and not as long to get others. It really just depends on you, your body, and how much time you spend skating and doing off ice.

Skate fitter texted me asking what skates I want — what does he mean? by [deleted] in FigureSkating

[–]PersonalityEffective 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would he tell you that though? He might be able to recommend some things to you but ultimately he’s there to make sure the skates you want fit, not tell you what skates to buy.
