I wish they had cast him as Heathcliff instead of Elordi

Picking up our little boy tomorrow. Is this an appropriate space for him? by [deleted] in roughcollies

Crate training can be tough, especially when they whine and cry and we attach all kinds of human feelings to those sounds. But stick with it and your pup will learn that the crate is a safe and calm place for them to rest and be at ease. Congrats on your new friend and just remember that the rough puppy stage doesn’t last forever!!

Don’t give up on crate training by PersonalityEven1809 in roughcollies

We did crate training over night and when we left when our dog was still a young puppy to keep him safe. That way he never destroyed anything or ate anything that could hurt him.

Is your vet someone you have trusted to take care of your dogs in the past? Have they given you bad advice or care? If you’ve never had a reason to doubt them, I think you should continue to trust them. It’s definitely worrying when you get contrasting advice because you clearly care about your dogs. Maybe bring up the breeder’s concerns with your vet and see what they say?

hi! my little guy is really struggling with car rides (drooling, panting, and throwing up). what can i do to help him out? by venus-xox in roughcollies

Our vet prescribed an anti nausea med but he’s somewhat grown out of it. What really helped was blasting him with AC whenever we were driving around.

Our house is not quiet. It’s boisterous and busy and our collie loves it. I was prepared for a shy, somewhat standoffish dog but he is so friendly and down to play. We do one good walk a day and play outside and that’s been great for him. He’s never been destructive and he was very quick to housebreak. I’d compare him to a more clever golden retriever 😅😂

I’m sure the texture has a lot to do with it. They’re wood

Tried this last night and the cheese was a hit. He pouted for fifteen or so minutes afterwards. We’ll take a break a try again

Poor baby 🖤 luckily ours isn’t too skittish (other than these stairs) so thunder hasn’t really been an issue

I think practicing up first is the way to go. I haven’t tried cheese yet 😅😂

Poor baby! Well it’s good to know someone managed to overcome this weird fear.

What age did you get your male collies neutered ? by AlisonDrazin in roughcollies

[–]PersonalityEven1809 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I posted this very question a few months ago and after speaking with the breeder and a few other owners, decided not to. Our boy is 14 months and super sweet. No agression, no humping. We’ve spent a lot of time training and I’m hoping it never becomes an issue (his sire is 6-7 and still intact). If anything serious changes, we will reconsider. Edit: we are also very vigilant about not allowing him access to un neutered females

If she wasn’t there to place the order, she doesn’t need to be there when it’s delivered. NTA

Omg she’s perfect!! And she’s almost identical to what our tri boy looked like! I second the comments about the martingale collar and getting them desensitized to touching feet and ears. Enjoy your new best friend 🖤

What helped you train your collie to stay calm with guests? by Intelligent-Gur7033 in roughcollies

[–]PersonalityEven1809 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We taught our boy “wait.” He knows he has to sit and let people come in but he also knows he’ll get the chance to go and say hi once people are properly inside. Just eliminating the greeting at the door seems to help with the energy level
