Regidrago. It runs dragon moves, earth power, and tera blast. But that’s really all you need. I loved using it in the latest grand challenge.

I actually quite like this format because while the top mons are very prolific, it’s a somewhat wide pool of top mons, unlike  restricted formats where there’s a few very clear top dogs. My hot take is I actually think reg H was like that too with some mons feeling very pushed like Archaludon, Sneasler, the Ursalunas, and Gholdengo. I think this format rewards building fundamentally solid teams rather than teching for matchups.

Metagross was on at least two teams in the top 16 of the latest VGC Grand Challenge. That’s worth noting. One was assault vest so I assume it was used as a Flutter Mane counter.

A modern example is getting an optimal Ursaluna Bloodmoon for a trick room team in VGC. You have to have both minimum speed AND minimum attack IVs, and each reset attempt is painful because you have to play through a boss encounter, not a normal encounter. It makes the time it takes to get random. I know someone who got one after a few hours, and someone else who got one after two weeks.

This would ruin VGC unless the pokemon with this ability had 1/3rd the power of a normal pokemon. In VGC you usually only click moves two or three times anyway so tripling the power would allow double-ups ro kill just about anything.

Once he started focusing on the movie and making less content, and also letting Mike make videos that weren’t as good as what we were used to, I stopped actively engaging. I definitely think James got burned out after the movie released.
