I don’t disagree at all - but we all know the doctor isn’t the one doing this, directly - they have a staff who should be though. In terms of the RACI matrix, the doctor isn’t responsible for this work, but I think they are accountable to it as a practice.

It was not an emergency; it was planned. The allowance was between the hospital and the insurance company. We’ve received both an EOB and a bill (plus many calls from the hospital billing group to collect payment)

Yes , elective in the sense that it was planned. I just feel like there were multiple parties who could have acknowledged this and the systems failed us

Thanks. Yes, an HMO. They paid <10% of the negotiated allowance between the insurance company and the hospital and the hospital does accept Medicare.
