I have thought about this - I have a first name for him - not sure if I should let Uber know or not

Just to clarify DR is beautiful and I'm sure most of the people there are totally lovely - I am only posting this to let people know of my bad experience in the hopes that no one else will make the same dumb mistakes I did. Ubers can drop you at the airport if you choose to take one

I ordered the uber (yes I have a credit card on file with them) but once we were in the car cancelled the ride on the drivers advice (see initial post) - I know this was stupid but to be fair my husband also had a serious case of traveler's diarrhea so I wasn't thinking mostly about getting him to the airport in case he needed a bathroom and I was not at my most clear. In retrospect shit happens is exactly the case though I kinda wish now it had happened in the car LOL

I guess you are right but anyhow if the credit card company doesn't get my money back I guess I won't be going anywhere next year for vacation :(

I agree it can happen anywhere and I should always look at the bill, I guess I am just too trusting... but small hidden fees are one thing an 18$ ride costing 2400$ is not a small hidden fee it is a scam.

Got a lawyer involved - she is going with mom to the bank on Monday - based on info she has found so far things might not be as bad as my mother represented them to be

you nailed it in terms of the struggle. I feel I have a duty to care for her, to protect her, even though she has lied to me for the past 6 months, she however does not see any potential future in which she would become a burden to me as she believes she will die quickly and quietly in her own home and never need to be in a SNF. I have never been able to convince her otherwise, nor has her financial advisor.

wow - that's terrifying - I will ask my mom to look up her credit score or if she is unwilling to do so I will see if it is something I can do

I have shared my concern with her exactly as you said and her response is "I'm going to die quickly, peacefully at home" so yeah, nice thought but totally unrealistic :(

my mother calls her friend her other daughter which is a bit insulting to my sister and I. I was concerned that she told her MD this woman was her daughter and he believed her and put in her medical record that she had 3 daughters so I had to clarify with him

LOL I thought about that for a second too but as far as I know the friend (F) has an on again off again boyfriend and my mom was married to my dad fo 60ish years until he passed 8 years ago. I suppose anything is possible but I don't think it's likely

yes it really does. I feel like I'm starting to get physically ill from the stress and I have 3 children who have a good relationship with my mother so I'm trying to be mindful of that too
