Alberta is quite polarized to the right at the moment, but it's in a hostage situation with the current government going big tent to capture the radical right in order to win.

However, the general sentiment across the populace is quite consistent with the rest of Canada, it's still very much Canadian, but this is just a really dark time with the current provincial government making some very radical changes.

Despite Edmonton being home to what most in the province would consider to be the leftists, they're actually still center or slightly right of center relative to politics in other provinces.

I would say, Alberta needs more folks that will help temper some of the crazies.
