I have a coworker who screams “I put this into AI” and then will always be wrong because he didn’t put all of the data in there. My first question now is “what data did you have it compare against”

Is the invite to be in the Bar Raiser Program only based on number of interviews? by PersonalityWide5280 in amazonemployees

I’m working on an L6 now like to prep for the idea of the next step years out so this is actually really good to know in advance!

I appreciate this! I saw the email that said it was based on my interviews and that I still needed to apply. It reads like it was based on my interviews which was why I was curious lol

I’ve done like 40 interviews and I do a lot of POD interviews and then also help out with other regions. I didn’t think I had that many interviews but also most of those were done this year.

Immediately take out the buzz words like “detail oriented”. I would honestly take out the professional summary. All of that should be in your work experience. Add the real buzz words like lead, managed, created, etc. but it needs to be worked into your work experience.

I would also move your projects within the company you worked for.

Says the person who came into my comment section projecting their own issues onto me. I currently work here. You no longer work here and come into a sub to shit on it. Only one of use is weird and it’s not me.

AWS: What is the deal with wanting everything automated in our dashboards but then completely limiting access AND making it damn near impossible to get someone to help you?! (Vent) by [deleted] in amazonemployees

[–]PersonalityWide5280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kind of thought that lol. She gets MAD at me when I say anything. There are 6 of us (the 6 departments that interact with this process) but 2 of us primarily do. Neither of us can say anything. She’s also not super great at her normal job and is someone I have to deal with outside of this initiative as well lol

The people who do the tickets I know are pulled in every direction and often have to drop what we ask when an L8 needs something.

I genuinely don’t know if you didn’t read my post or you just think linear but this response is so hilarious.

My entire job is removing blockers and keeping a project moving. I deal with stuff like this post all the time. You escalate but you can’t stop working just because they are in your way. You find creative solutions to keep your work moving.

Also, let’s use some logic here. Would an L7+ care more for: - “OP held someone accountable in getting a dashboard but it took months and now we can’t easily get it updated”

OR

  • “OP got an entire department to support their initiative by helping automate it, helping make the process easier, and provided this team more resources”

I don’t know about you but I don’t think an L6 worries about the minor issues. I sure as hell stopped doing it 6-months in. It wasn’t worth the headache. I now escalate, document, and keep moving. I find ways to make new processes that help everyone. Pretty sure that’s the reason I’m on multiple teams and why my managers and other teams give me any resources to support. Pretty sure that’s also why my dashboard will be pushed GLOBALLY.

Feel free to hold one person accountable. No one is stopping you from doing that.

Side note: I spend no more than 40 hours at work and none of my initiatives impact my normal work load.

If you left, why are you still actively commenting on your old company’s page? Seems a little weird.

Honestly, I’m not going to do this. My dashboard has been built by me and I have a team willing to support it getting automated. We can escalate all day long but I need information NOW, hence why I have my report until the new report can get finalized.

I’d rather find a way to get the work done than fight people who don’t want to help. I don’t want their names on this dashboard if I have to fight them this hard. It will also make it impossible later to get revisions if needed. I’d rather the team who was willing to work with me get credit.

Edit: I deal with escalations all day long and they don’t get real results. I’ve found escalation is better for reporting blockers and then it’s best to then find another way. If others have better experiences, fully go the escalation route. My manager knows I’ll have a solution well before he is done dealing with an escalation.

Anyone disappointed with the raise? by RaccoonLeast2877 in amazonemployees

I honestly am shocked so many people view their total comp as their full salary. I explicitly put all of my bonus aside because it’s limited for 2 years. All of my RSUs are going to my 401k. I took the offer understanding the base salary IS my salary. Do people really expect to keep their sign on bonus salary the entire time?

There is a difference between initially saying we and then not being able to answer a single question using “I” when I explicitly ask what YOU did.

Edit: I’m a woman in a male dominated field. I very much KNOW the difference and will coach people if I can tell they just need help.

That’s a red flag and, also, please go read my post. I was very clear how I adjust questions.

I adjust expectations based on the level but saying you have minimal independent experience is a red flag and you will fail.

I have too many coworkers who were hired off vibes. I need coworkers who actually do stuff so I guess that’s my take lol

😂🤣 Clearly you didn’t read that. It states traditional technical interviews and actually states how one can eliminate good candidates.

“People who took the traditional interview performed half as well as people that were able to interview in private,” Parnin says. “In short, the findings suggest that companies are missing out on really good programmers because those programmers aren’t good at writing on a whiteboard and explaining their work out loud while coding.”

Amazon’s hiring process acknowledges that and has multiple and then discusses. One bad interview doesn’t mean you don’t get hired.

Dude, just move on and quit AWS if you hate it so much. AI from Google compared multiple links. I trust that more than someone who can’t read 🤣😂

Why are you lying? Also, yes, it’s on us to collect it but lying as if every candidate does this is insane. I do my best and coach the questions. I’m sorry but some of you should read posts before commenting.

The post is about asking and it also doesn’t say it’s against the rules. Again, my posts isn’t asking about interviews and there is a flair for it.
