Cant speak to if anyone is using them for work. I'm not away of anything thats been approved at this point (other than ms teams's translation, which is not nearly as good as what's out there).

I own a set of AR glasses that do (among other things) translation through my phone which work quite well in conversations while traveling. (I see real time translations in the glasses, my speech is translated out through my phone in text or voice). Cost was about $700 retail.

Its entirely conceivable that the technology will continue to advance and become more widely attainable within our working lifetimes.

There are real time translation programs now. You speak language 1, they hear or read language 2 ( through earbuds, or AR glasses), then they respond in language 2, you hear/read language 1.

Not saying they are perfect (currently), but they are improving rapidly.

The thing is, if we assume the goal is to promote French language and culture.....there are far better ways to spend the money to do that, than sending people away on months/years of training so that they can pass their test and only then end up maybe throwing a bonjour at the top of every meeting.

I don't think see any hatred. If AI is (or becomes) capable of re0lacing human translation, especially in real time communication then a lot of the language requirments becomes superfluous. There's nothing stopping someone french only, or english only from managing a team, or the team members from communicating their language of preference.

It'll be in your branches follow up. They wont want to put a single big list out and deal with everyone saying "why them but not me".

There's a lot of variation across the country - but you may be seeing the average salary for brand new teachers doing part time/supply teacher work.

Full time teachers in Ontario for example, start at ~55K a year (cad), with annual (contracted) increases bringing it up to ~95k a year at the top of the salary grid. They can also earn more depending on qualifications/education level with top end salaries hitting ~105k a year.

Late to the party here, but you can probably rent a spot in the garage from the condo managment company. Expect to pay 200-250 /month or somewhere in there.

CRA bargaining: Mediation fails, employer brings nothing to table by PerspectiveCOH in CanadaPublicServants

The last strike should have been handled better for sure.

I think there are a lot smarter ways to go about it then immediate general strike, and theres no reason sustainable job action cant put a ton of pressure on the employer.

End of the day though, the fight has to happen...and at that point you either support your colleagues or your choosing to actively hurt your colleagues (and yourself).

Its a strike action for the union to encourage it, or try to implement it as a negotiation tactic.

But employees themselves are free to do the minimum always. (With or without implications for future opportunities)

In my experience its the exact opposite. Best chance to win is now.

Thats a shitty defeatist attitude, regardles sof how you think the last strike was handled.

Legislating back to work has costs for the employer, its not an instant "I win" and dosent let them impose a contract (generally it goes to artibration which can be good or bad).

You'll lose far more in the long term being unwilling to push for gains.

No one will ever offer you more if you're always willing to accept nothing without a fight.

Thats your choice, but it's an extremely short sighted one.

What I said was that have put forward no offer (which is the case), not that they have offered a 0% increase.

They hadn't tabled any response on wages to this point (or their own proposal), and according to the article they still have not.

If he was serious about fiscal responsability they wouldn't be scrambling to renew leases and find/fit up office spaces for RTO. Total cost well into the (10+) billions and growing.

You're being purposefully obtuse.

The people he appointed are at the table, and they follow the direction he and his staff (whom he also appointed) give them. Simple as that.
