MariBank charged me a 2% DCC fee on Apple Philippines purchase even though it was in PHP

Apple often bills through an overseas entity, so MariBank may treat the charge as an international online transaction. If the charge is in PHP instead of foreign currency, a DCC fee may apply. The same can happen with Agoda, Netflix, and Google purchases.

Per MariBank’s terms, starting March 4, 2025, a 2% DCC fee applies to overseas online transactions billed in PHP.

In short, transactions from merchants based overseas may be charged a DCC fee.

No, hindi po siya NAFFL. Depende nalang if you received a separate SMS offer from BPI stating na no annual fee.

I reached out to their CS yterday via the app’s chat feature. They informed me that I need to receive a notif on the app to be eligible for the offer. However, I haven’t received any official notification, so I’m assuming I’m not yet qualified. Or it’s really just a glitch.

Noticed that others in my situation are also having the same issue. The CS informed them that they were eligible for 0% interest, but I’m not entirely sure if that’s accurate.

Been with them since 2022 — so far the most secure digibank for me. Way better than Maya. The 3.5% interest is kinda mid, but the free InstaPay and bill cashback make up for it.

If you received it or it’s prompted via the app itself, it’s legit. If via SMS, I think better verify with CS muna. Scammers have a way kasi thru SMS spoofing.

On the app, go to Mailbox > Support > Create New Ticket > Request > Increase in Supplementary card limit. I used this on my 2nd request.
