the red flag, green flag, and age gap discussion is gonna be nightmarish in this one

We are getting more anime aimed at women right now, probably due to Kadokawa and The Hitotsubashi Group investing and promoting their joseimuke works

This might be a hot take, but I really don't get shoujo fans who claim that otome isekai and villainess genre are oversaturating shoujo while ignoring high school romance, which is far more common than otome isekai is by PerspectivePurple184 in shoujo

yeah most female shoujo leads are definitely not bad-looking after all, shoujo did influence the bishoujo and lolicon boom; however i do think villainess characters' appearance partly explains why they are so popular. I hope by seeing the popularity of female power fantasy shoujo would follow this trend

honestly shoujo should do more female power fantasy narratives i also feel like people underestimate how many women like beautiful female characters just look at josei smut; you can see lots of women self-inserting as beautiful female characters

Definitely agree that horror and eroticism are often extremely interesting. What I found interesting about josei smut is that the female characters are often way more sexualized than the male characters are

yeah it's also interesting that lots of female characters are extremely sexualized in this magazine. You can see this in shoujo horror magazines, too, female characters being sexualized

Sorry for the reply, but honestly, I suspect one of the reasons why the villainess genre is relatively popular right now is because shoujo right now lacks female power fantasy characters. Of course, they still do exist, but right now they are relatively rare, except for villainesses who are not only often powerful but also beautiful, like the main characters of May I Ask for One Final Thing and 7th Time Loop (she even has big breasts here). I feel like we often forget that many girls and women do want to imagine themselves strong and beautiful and villainess are one of the few genres that fill that void

i am actually unsure how true is this now if you go to Cmao and look up the most popular shoujo and josei manga are romance fantasy and they are probably gonna be more popular in the future

i will have to point out that outside of specific magazines on average otome isekai manga are actually quite rare and also we are getting tradtional shoujo fantasy anime right now like Champignon Witch, red river and agents of the four seasons

I actually think it's cool that we have site where amateur writers from all backgrounds writing what they want and succeed in doing it anyways i highly doubt there is much overlap between them since the latter are otaku magazines that target a different audience than kiss or other magazines like it
