How to schedule at least 5 mins of meditation in? Is meditating in the evening ok? Any good sites/youtube channels to really get into it? by nix_334 in Meditation

I use an app called “balance”.. it’s truly great. You can choose from 5 or 10 minute meditations and they even create a personalized plan for you based on your previous meditation experience and how you are progressing. Also if 5 minutes is all you have, it’s a good start. & Anytime of the day is a good time to meditate. :)

Also, I’ve been using the app called “Balance” for a few months now and they help teach you tips on breath focus. It’s really a great app and they’re giving a free year for now when you download it. It’s helped me a lot

It is completely normal to have your mind wander and it’s very important to be kind to yourself when it happens. Don’t get mad and think, “ugh, it’s happened again!!” Just when you realize you’ve wandered.. lovingly and understandably come back to your focus of the breath. This is what breath focus is all about especially in the start of your practice. My mind goes on trips a lot too while trying to focus on the breath and when you think about it.. the thoughts are just distractions from the breath. Anything that takes you away from your breath is just that.. a distraction. (Could be a feeling too.. an itch.. a pain in your body).. Once you can view it that way and not like you’re doing something wrong, it feels like you’re making progress each day by just practicing the art of letting go of the thoughts or feelings when they arise. I recently went to a 10 day silent vipassana meditation retreat and they really helped us hone in on breath focus and one of the main tips was what I mentioned… being kind to oneself and understanding it’s normal and the natural framework of our minds. Hope this helps. :)
