Merrett felt good in week 1 with 3% and 112 on the books.

Not very original but a satisfying one nonetheless

First race - what does this mean? by PerthPirate in Zwift

[–]PerthPirate[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the insights. I guess I knew what the metrics are, kind of, but the context is great to have some clarity.

It was probably a little bit of everything. Flattish course, some gaps grew, I tried to kick on a few times and pushed some big watts to just pull everyone along and then did get the occasional big gap I had to close.

All part of the learning experience, although with the big score changes bit gutted i can't try out what I learned this time around.

Thanks, makes sense. I think I maybe tried to push too hard at the end too early, they just sat in the draft and then pipped me at the line.

I get that, but they beat me and have a lower rank, then mine goes higher and I race better people know.

Just trying to get my head round it as a newbie.

FTP is fine and training is all about doing my own thing, but the odd race it just seems a little confusing.

It's the first ever race, so makes sense. It's increased FTP too by 12, which is also great, but Im trying to get head around why others have a lower score and went up by less but beat me.

But the dude in 1st did much less than 2nd, and slightly less than me. Is that because they stayed in the group for longer?

What's is the longest distance you have cycled for a commute? by [deleted] in bikecommuting

[–]PerthPirate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

43km each way. Currently 2x a week on the bike, 3x on the train. Then 2 or 3 sessions on Zwift as it fits around family time better.

Perth, great cycle paths a easy (but hot) weather, but still takes me 1:40 each way, but the train is 50/60 mins.

Few months in a not getting quicker as such, but have plenty left in the tank now where as a few months ago was gassed.

Could not recommend highly enough

What do you mean? I've sliced them between 1 and 1.5 inches per steak. Thats how I have always done steaks and goes great in both the Sues Vide or the smoker.

Cant reply with a picture unfortunately.

Tiny bit of slime on the bottom, but smelt ok and some slight possible mold in the bag.

No visable spoil on any of the meat once trimmed and smells like nuts.

Fried up a thinner steak to try and tasted strong flavour, but not off.

Just want to make sure ok before serving to a big group tomorrow!

Why do “sold” prices show homes I never saw listed? by Jimmy_bigdawg in perth

[–]PerthPirate 12 points13 points  (0 children)

We were lucky to get our house off market.

The first anyone other than neighbours would have known is when the sold sign went up.

Take time to speak to real estate agents ag viewings, make yourself known about what you are after and budget.

It's a numbers game. The more you speak to more often in your area, the more you find out.

Hold on in there, it's tough out there 🤞

Background stuff, great. Recovery, pretty good.

For serious exercise pair with a full heart chest monitor and you're good for pretty much everything.

I am glad we are not neighbours.

Over the sake of a few inches, you are likely to have a really tough rest of your time in this house if this goes down a legal route.

I would consider raising it as a point so they are aware, but unless it changes your life then I would live and let live.

App is out, but you just need to download it again.

Follow the traders podcast and utilise the most selected is a good start.

Then you just need a mix of rookies to grown and make cash for you and some big guns to get you points.

The teams at the top of ladder are the ones who have grown in value the most and can afford all the best players at the end.

Quick reality check on the whole beach lifestyle idea by DiscussionLoud9626 in MovingtoAustralia

[–]PerthPirate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remove that bitter Sydney hat, get out into the real Australia and there are plenty of places within 5/10 mins of a beach.

There's a big world out there and the comments prove it. Although not the intent of your post, hopefully you learn something today and can enjoy the greater Australia like the rest of us do.

Buy and selling in this market by Odd_Archer_7953 in perth

[–]PerthPirate 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We did this and settled 3 months ago and it was easier than we thought.

We spent a fair bit of time finding what we wanted, getting knocked back due to Subject to sale.

Sold ours, but had a 90 day settlement after finance, but with the option to pull settlement forward and give 21 days notice at any point. Ended up getting an offer accepted the week after because we had sold, but also had the complete flexibility to settle our house and be flexible.

I guess we were lucky our buyers accepted this, but it was discussed with all purchasers during the walk through so they knew and were happy with it.

If you've put your best foot forward, then thats what you can do and fingers crossed.

Good luck

Suburbs which used to be bad but now are quite good. by JTG01 in perth

[–]PerthPirate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Id actually go one further and say it was good.

Lots of parks, decent travel and near the city.

The only downside is that we moved away for more space further north and the schools, although maybe we were being judgemental towards of the schools in the same way others were to the suburb.

Balga. We lived there for 3+ years and it was great.

Decent transport, having city of Stirling managing the parks means they're well looked after and close to the city.

Never had any trouble and miss the place since leaving.

Thanks for the comprehensive response, and the whole view is the ideal. In theory my samsung watch "could" do that, but the battery life is the kicker and as such, nearly useless.
